The cost is huge $4-5k (I have insurance to cover $80% after $100 excess).

I feel sick but I have to go home as it's 4.40am and Nathan will be up in less than 2hrs and I've got work after than.

Oh no, just catching up. What an awful worry. I can't imagine what you're going through. One thing: forget about work unless you need it to take your mind off things. But otherwise, forget it. This is a family emergency and you must NOT feel pressured into carrying on as normal.
Catching it so soon and getting her to the vet despite the world situation just goes to show what an amazing mum you are to her.
