She's like a zombie! It's the tramadol. I'll see how she is later but might reduce the dose a little tomorrow. Last night I couldn't wake her for a bedtime wee. Not even rolling her over. She was doing the eyes rolled up and third eyelid scary thing. In the end I wafted a piece of stilton under her nose and that did the trick.

Hope Lady is feeling better today and has managed to relax.

I wonder if I weigh my self before a toilet break and then again after I would loose the same amount...interesting....

Hope she's a bit more awake today. I found cutting the high dosage of tramadol and using it in combination with Onsior really helped. Doug was on this combination for a while and it ment he was helped by the tramadol but not zonked out.

I always weigh myself in the morning after a toilet break and yes, it does make a difference

Hope she's a bit more awake today. I found cutting the high dosage of tramadol and using it in combination with Onsior really helped. Doug was on this combination for a while and it ment he was helped by the tramadol but not zonked out.

That’s what Ginny had, along with Gabapentin and some other things, after her amp. She didn’t have any noticeable grogginess.

I was given Tramadol after surgery to mend an ankle I'd broken in three places. Powerful stuff! It pretty much sorted the pain but I had bizzare dreams, including one in which the Occupational Therapist who I worked with at the time and I were teaching nursing students dancing Isadora Duncan style! Stilton might have brought me round but nobody thought to try it, and I was happy just to be pain free-ish.
Hope your dear SBD is back to normal again soon.

I really hate Tramadol - Sky was on it for the last few months of her life. She had no visible reactions except being a bit zombie like which I didn’t like. I gave it to her to help her pain which I am sure it did. The vets said to up the dose which I did for a few days but felt that didn‘t suit her. I cut it back to the original dose. It really is powerful stuff

I hope the SBD is less spaced out today. Did the vet X-ray her? If not, it may be worth asking for that to be done as an extra diagnostic check.

So sorry to read that Lady has a bad back and is in pain! We have experience with our Euan with a bad back and pain. He was on carprodyl and tramadol, Maximum dosage he was given. He wasn’t a zombie, I guess due to Finn who was around him and kept him occupied....
I hope Lady is less zombie today, in my experience it take some days for them to get used to the tramadol!

She's also on Metacam which I think is similar to Onsior. I'm hoping she gets accustomed to the Tramadol but I'm hoping it's just an acute incident rather than chronic so she should be off the Tramadol in a few days.

If she doesn't improve by Monday next week I'll be taking her back to the Vet. I expect the next step will be x-rays.

Just taken her out for a "short" walk. She ran off over the fields. I just let her go - well she kind of wasn't really listening at that point. She could only get about half a mile when she'd be baulked by a kissing gate with a latch so I wasn't overly concerned other than she's never done anything like that before. I think it's the Tramadol making her loopy so I've halved the dose this morning. Having said she ran off, her movement this morning is much more relaxed including ducking under two low stiles! I haven't had so much exercise in weeks trying to keep up with her. She pulled herself together when she got to a bridge over the river and waited for me to catch up and we walked back. Well I walked and she trotted! She seemed to have pulled herself together by the time we got home. Dogs! More worry than small children.

Anyway I've halved the dose so we'll see how she gets on with that. She's chilling out (literally) in the conservatory at the moment which is normal.

Lovely to hear! She probably is pain free and so can enjoy running and doing all those nice outdoors activities. Pain meds can be fantastic. (I get terrible headaches. I don’t know how i could function without pain meds!)

I'll be keeping a close eye on the situation. The vet said to reduce if necessary. So far so good and she's more connected as well.
