We had a few lulls in the weather so we had 2 short walks - one around the block and the 2nd we went up to my youth centre and Harley mooched around the field. She was limping badly yesterday, but was sat staring at me and kept giving me her paw when it was near her normal ‘walk’ time 😂. She doesn’t seem to be limping today, so hoping it was just ecause she ran around on the stones on the drive at home yesterday. The weather at times has been horrendous, but luckily nothing broken or fallen down today (yet)

Just catching up with the local news. Flooding really bad again, particularly in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, a bit further up the valley. Both places have had millions spent on flood defences since 2015, it seems to no avail. The rain's still coming down with more, and snow forecast. I feel so, so sorry for all the people going through this again. It has to be climate change, also I suspect coupled with the loss of the peat bogs, that's causing this. So relieved that we're too high up to be affected. Will have a look tomorrow to see how I can help this time. Last time we decided against helping with the clean up as Trevor wasn't well enough for that but we did supply hot food and drinks to people, as did very many others. Hope you're all safe and dry, and your loved ones.

@Candy it's just heartbreaking these people are having to face flooding again. Loss of peat bogs must be something to do with it. When will the people in "charge" realise all these things are there to help in the first place. Nature knows best. I'm glad you're high up. I'm sure affected people will be happy to have your help now as they were when you and Trevor stepped in to assist before. You're a kind lady just as Trevor was a kind man. xx

glad to hear @Candy

Given the weather and rain, has anyone found that their dog won't go to the toilet in rain/wind/thunder etc. but will happily go for a walk in the same???

I went out with both girls the other day in a full Thunder/Lightning/rain and people think we are nuts. They don't care, enjoy being out and think it is facinating...

So many people round here are kind. It was probably the one really good thing to come out of the 2015 floods, the sense of Community. Local curry houses distributed free food to local churches for people who had been flooded to pick up, a choir formed, all kinds of good stuff. It's just so awful to see the same people and local small businesses suffering again. It can't have always been like this, or these villages and small towns wouldn't have been built here in the first place. That's what makes it so clear that it's something for which we are responsible.:'(

Is that the correct spelling for smidgeon? Or should it be smigeon as in pigeon?
Spell check, which I never entirely trust, appears to be saying the former.

Fairly quiet here this morning. There was a tremendous hoolie at around 3:00, but it is just a normal blowy day here this morning. Bet my boss is furious that he called off school for the day! The dead fir trees in the garden are still standing, and the tree man has just cancelled for today - too dangerous, he says.

Harley goes out on all weathers. If she doesn’t get her walk she sits in front of me staring until I take her. We’ve been out in horrendous rain, hail, snow, sunshine etc. The only thing she doesn’t particularly like is thunder.

Poppy doesnt like wind - last night I had both her and Merlin in my bed, she insisted on burrowing under the duvet!
Bless her . Hope you both managed to get some sleep x

Looks like I managed to fly ahead of the storm and I’m very glad of that. I think I would still be sitting at the airport if my flight had been any later.

We had the storm in the night but the sky is clear and the sun is out again now. ☀

I’m loving my time with Anuka and Mike and Tina enjoyed their board games evening while I played with her and rocked her to sleep. 💕
