We’ve landed and the weather is fine here but forecast stormy soon so I’m hoping to get on a train asap (Frankfurt - Mannheim - Heidelberg).

The take off was very bumpy indeed but the rest of the flight uneventful.

Mike and Tina have invited friends for a board game party this afternoon/evening while Omi entertains Anuka!

There's just been a loud banging crashing noise! Can't see that anything near by has blown over. It could have been thunder? Or a particularly loud gust of wind? The whole house is rattling and creaking! Time for cuddles with GGJ!

Storm Ciara has been a bit of a let down so far. Saturday & Sunday boats were cancelled...but we only measured a maximum 32mph in our garden (relatively sheltered). We've had 10mm rain today but that's stopped now. Just been out with the dogs & it's really rather nice - the sun has come out.

@Boogie Glad you arrived safe and sound. Take off must have been a little on the exciting side.

@Jen Carbon's the same. Doesn't care that he hasn't been for a walk. I let him out by himself for his morning wee in the garden and he ran straight back in after the deed was done.

Not here. It is WILD out there at the moment. I hope everyone stays safe but it's an entertaining show from the inside of the cozy house. Not something I'd ever see in California, that's for sure!

Very white dog + mud = a very messy house.
She also tends to roll a lot on the beach (and other places) so it keeps her clean and dry too - we didn’t encourage them to go into the water today for obvious reasons!
It’s been an absolute necessity over the autumn/winter months! x

The other thing is that more washing/baths causes more matting and it’s harder to maintain the coat. Or it is for the loose fleece coats like Oreo’s... I guess Hattie’s is different x

I agree regarding bathing, Hattie gets a bath every 3 months at the groomer and nothing in between. Hattie's coat is more Poodle, if she gets wet and muddy I dry her with a towel and brush any dried on mud. No matting. xx

I was going to ask the same question, so thanks for the answer, Sophie.

I saw a gaggle of doodles on the beach last weekend and they ALL had those coats on. I asked if it was to keep the sand out or in and I just got a dirty look in reply. I wasn't trying to be snide, I really wanted to know!

To be fair, it was kind of a stupid question on my part. If they were drying coats (keeping the sand 'in') they wouldn't have had them on on the beach. I should have just said, "Why is it important for doodles to wear the coats?". Or maybe I was the 100th person that day to ask about the coats and they were just sick of answering!

There’s a dog we see regularly with one of those coats. I think it’s a Cockerpoo.

Poor thing always looks mortified definitely why I’ll only stick to short haired dogs!
