I will admit I’m not a huge fan of human names for dogs 

It wouldn't be my personal choice as I'm all about the Celtic names, but if I met a dog named Bertie, I'd think it was charming. And even more intriguing for a big dog as it's not what you'd expect. I really like your idea of George as well. It goes nicely with Monty's name.I do like Bertie, but doesn't it just sound like a cuddly puppy name, not a big dog name?
