A new world

One thing I've really liked and don't want it to change, is my children shopping for me. Just sending a quick text asking if I need anything. I dislike shopping especially food shopping , I'm not in the at risk categories but as a family it has been lovely knowing if I needed anything, I really could just ask and vice versa.
Oh and the WhatsApp family group chat , I'm hoping that stays the same it's a lovely way to keep in contact and see how the family are doing and no one gets missed out.

I’ve quite enjoyed the peace and quiet of lockdown and not really looking forward to things going back to normal.
If we could have a new normal what would you wish for.
Me too, if it weren't for this bloody virus I would wish it to stay like this.
Plus so many more people are being nice to each other. My OH asthma has been much better lately with less pollution too.

Yes I have. I have always been close to my children but we have daily conversations courtesy of Messenger and I (and they) really enjoy these. Once normality occurs - whatever and whenever that will be, this won’t be the same. They send photos and videos and we have an ongoing competition which I am especially enjoying.

I have to say I’m not enjoying anything about lockdown.

It’s completely a pile of shite!

I’m sick of being stuck in the house with a dog and toddler with unlimited energy, I’m missing my family and friends beyond words and I miss McDonald’s!! 😭😭

I think the corporate world will be forever changed - this will mean that commuting and expensive city and suburb living will possibly change over time, as people can live where they want if they don't have to be in a downtown office daily. It was moving in this direction anyway, and this really pushed things ahead. I told OH that my one wish came true - to spend all my time with Quinn...this isn't exactly what I meant, but I am quite happy now that I have settled into working from home. I hope it stays this way - it will open up a lot more options of where we can live.

I just love WFH so much. I get to spend so much more time with OH and Maxx plus I am not having to do the trudge commute into the city. The work I do is complex and intense and in the office there are constant conversations going on around you and nuisance interruptions. It's been like heaven apart from the worry about the world.

I do miss seeing friends, even though we don't catch up that much. It's my friends hubby's 60th next month so we hope at least to have a picnic (even though it will be cold).

My best friend and her hubby are coming for lunch on Saturday. What a treat!

I am loving the new relationship with my sister . We are chalk and cheese and at times, her indifference to our dogs has upset me on their visits , no its angered me . Now, she is facing her own health challenge but also she and I are ringing one another much more often , she has even told me that she loves me ( a first ! ) and we are finding a bond which wasnt there before . So I like that during tough times , differences can be put aside , empathy can be found and new understandings that its fine not to be the same x

That’s good - I’m sure it will continue post virus times. My relationship with my sister has been non existent since lock down. Our only communication is when I have to inform her of anything to do with our late mum’s estate (I have been meticulous in making sure everything is transparent). I have literally done everything and continue to. I do not feel resentful - I am proud of how I have managed all these things and know mum trusted me. Once everything is wrapped up there will be nothing between my sister and me. Some relationships are just not meant to be. Mum was such a family person - very loving and interested in us all - not sure what happened with my sister along the way

More WFH and flexible hours (i.e. more cuddle and playtime), less traffic on the roads and more people out exercising.

In some ways the environmental impact of humanity has reduced (like the cars) but in other ways has worsened (single use plastics) so I would like to keep the good and ditch the bad.

In most other ways I have hated lockdown and really struggled with it.

So much is context specific. I love WFH but completely get your viewpoint @Emily . For me, it saves 1.5 hrs commute, open plan offices and constant interruptions (I don't work well in open plan).
At home I'm very fortunate to have my own little study which I can leave at the end of the day, and I don't have any human dependents so can knuckle down most of the time and get things done (except for the regular crushing existential angst, but meh, pandemic). It's reduced my working day from ~10.5 hrs to ~8. Domestically, we're getting local food deliveries and are being more creative/seasonal with our menus as a result. We've reduced packaging and plastic use too. I'm going to miss the homeworking hugely when the world changes.
