What made you smile today?

Well, in that case, why the pyjamas at all?

While I vastly prefer being in Cornwall to Spain at the moment, I do love the fact that in Spain no one can see onto the bedroom balcony. That means this type of weather would be (1) swim in pool, (2) come in and fill up a glass with ice and tinto de verano and (3) take off my wet swim suit and hang out on the sun lounger stark naked. Ahhh, sweet!

Between the balcony and the fact that only the nude beaches are dog-friendly year-round, never any tan lines in Spain for me! 😁
Somehow what may well feel right in Spain is a different kettle of fish in Wild and Windy West Yorkshire!:$:giggl:

Coming back from our morning walk, we were coming down our dirt track, when in the opposite direction came a man and woman on bikes. I called Fred and Annie to heel and asked them to sit and wait. As the man and woman went past , the woman called back , What well behaved dogs you have. Now that made me smile.

My friend Liz rang tonight. She also lives on her own. She is a nurse, but as an insulin dependent diabetic, she is at risk, can't work and is having to be very careful. We couldn't stop talking! Had a good long talk for an hour and forty minutes! Then both realized that we needed to stop and eat. She is a knitter and had originally rung to say she was knitting me a Joy, and to ask what her outfit should be! (We settled on dungarees, but she sent me a text later to say that she might also do her a dress 'for best'!)
Liz and I have had some brilliant times together as you have seen. We have promised each other that once all this is as over as it can be we're going to have the best time yet. Just having something lovely (albeit that I don't know what or when) to look forward to will continue to make me smile. We all need something to look forward to. :sun:

The way my friend Ali writes/ talks about her dogs makes me smile. Lola and Ludo are Standard Shitzus. She has just sent me the following text
'I took the dogs to the allotment today. Lola fell in the compost trench, dug up the flowers and ravaged the radishes. Ludo looked like he needed a cigarette. '
I can just picture it!

I totally did a happy dance just now because I lost an auction on eBay. Yes, lost. I don't know what possessed me to bid on a Pepto-Bismol pink jean jacket earlier in the day, but I then spent the rest of the afternoon thinking, "Oh my god, someone HAS to outbid me...what am I going to do with a Pepto-Bismol pink jean jacket???!!!" Then, at the last minute - literally - someone bid one pound higher than I did.

Oh, happy, happy dance, dance! Thank you, eBay gods! :celebrate:

And just in case "Pepto-Bismol pink" does not translate worldwide:

Now I can go back to concentrating on winning my next eBay item: a shirt emblazoned with Cornish pasties and sailboats. I mean, surely I won't regret THAT bid at the last minute, will I?

I've just placed my first ebay bid in two months (an absolute record for me) and won some Birkenstocks for under a fiver, plus postage 😁.

Umm.... isn't pepto bismol just Gaviscon? Sorry if it's got some added extra super ingredient...
Interestingly ( or not) since OH has been taking diclofenac for his shoulder tendon tear, it's been paired with omeprazole to reduce the effects of his stomach. I'm now able to cook with onions again, as he now has no acid reflux/ indigestion, yay! He's now reduced the diclofenac right down but will have to convince his GP he should stay on the omeprazole long term, as it's close to life changing for him.

Should be easy
Hope so, an unexpected gain in the gloom of long term shoulder tendonitis. My mom has been on it forever so assume it's perfectly safe long term.
I should clarify, life changing in the sense that indigestion and reflux doesn't keep him awake or even make him sick at night... maybe just life enhancing!

so assume it's perfectly safe long term.
There can be an association with osteoporosis for long term users, so caution for people at risk.
Also if there is extreme achlorhidria, it might increase the risk of gastric cancer. On the flip side, uncontrolled reflux could cause oesophageal cancer.
It's worthwhile discussing the pros and cons to be sure. Don't want to be the harbinger of doooom.....
