What made you smile today?

Congratulations - very exciting! And great that you already know people that can do trades stuff. I'm impressed with all the DIYers here but I am firmly in agreement with @Xena Dog Princess that the cheapest way to pay is with money. I don't mind some basic work but my absolute worst nightmare is a big renovation project - OH would insist that he could do it all himself and would start jobs and not finish them and then we would blow the budget buying the nicest quality fittings and would have no money and still be in chaos. Shudder. :shake: I am totally reconciled to the idea that we will never make a big profit on a house flip. A peaceful life is worth more to me! But kudos to those of you that can do it and even enjoy it!

Our move here was supposed to be a move to something that didn’t need any work but it hasn’t turned out that way, both because we chose an older house and also because the extent of the problems was much greater than we thought. We’ve got electricians working here again today fault finding, as their previous tests showed a few things wrong - it’s already turning out to be a maze of unidentifiable wiring where things have been altered and added over the years.

A 30 year old house sounds a good bet @Jen , has it got a decent size garden?

We met with our buyers agent in a park today- we had to be out of the house for the cleaner... Rowan and Chewie were both stars. Chewie had a few treats and just lay down fiddling with sticks. Rowan had a few treats too (human ones! Raspberries and crackers) and happily chatted in the stroller.

They are both so good.
