He looks as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth
@Sophiedoodle. Do you know why he is a challenge, is it genetics?
We are sure it was his previous home. It’s his resource guarding and grooming that’s the issues. They have been relatively easily “fixed”, but his owners obviously weren’t willing to put in the extra work or pay for a behaviourist. They had an older dog in the house too, so we feel they ended up “protecting” him and leaving Ghillie out of things and not giving him the same love & attention as their other dog, so his tendencies got worse.
He is a brilliant dog, but will still need somebody who understands how to deal with him and we will need to work with Ghillie and his new family for a while before they actually get to take him away. It’s something that we have never had to deal with before, so it’s definitely been a learning curve for everyone.
It’s not genetics. His dad is Harris, the same dog Oreo was bred to! Harris is such a brilliant dog, so happy and friendly and is great with grooming. His mum is also SO cuddly and friendly, although a little shy around new people.
