Whereupon she promptly did, fixing me with a hard stare and licking her lips in anticipation of some sort of reward! Funny girl! She must be listening to everything I say and just waiting for something that makes sense to her!

I'm loving this time of Cassie's life, there's so much coming to the fore now of just how much she watches and listens to my activity and draws conclusions!
I think with other dogs I've had they've been part of the bigger picture of family life but now it's just me and Cass I guess I notice stuff more. Like whether I'm eating from a bowl (no sharing) or a plate (might be sharing).
For ages I've been aware that what I'm wearing indicates whether she's coming in the car or not, but lately it's come to my notice that it's the combination of shoes/coat/bag and picking up of car keys that's informing her decision!

Slippers on after morning shower = no walk.
Kettle on = no walk.
Close laptop = walk (might not but great excitement!)

Ella always picks up on what clothes we put on in the morning. Business attire = no walk = sulking Ella. Non-business attire = walk = trot around the house following you everywhere

Cass has had to monitor things and reassess I guess since I "retired" ! It's not so cut and dries now!

Click of perfume lid and Hunter comes to the bathroom to get me as he knows it means first walk of the day. Saturday is always an hour later and he grabs the lead at the end of the walk as he knows it is cappachino and croissant time followed by a visit to the petshop. He literally drags me there. He also recognises dog walking and non dog walking jackets! Aren't they just incredible! x

Yes, it’s the same here. Red ‘reads’ everything that goes on here. Her understanding is astonishing. I am constantly fascinated by her

This is so Rourke, it is just him and me and we know each other so well now, his little routines, my routines, I am going to be devastated without him.

Exactly! It’s amazing how observant they are!

I’m never quite sure whether mine prefer a walk or a Kong! They seem equally excited following me into the kitchen for a Kong if I’m going out (usually in the ‘wrong’ coat) as following me to the door for their collars and leads…

Somebody has learned he can jump up on my bed …. He was so pleased with himself he grabbed my shirt and kept it in his mouth . Gizmo is less than impressed.

I lifted Hugo down as I don’t want him to jump, to finish doing my bed routine in the bathroom, he always sits and waits for me… not this time. I went back to my bedroom to see him standing on the middle of my bed wagging his tail

Same with Carbón - my lack of work time (ie hours of staring at the computer ) is really confusing to him . A couple times I’m getting ready to leave for a Big Walk and he just sits there. I don’t think he gets that Big Walks aren’t just the weekend anymore.

Then again without work , most of the time I don’t know what day it is myself, so who can blame him?
