It's weird to read about your heat-wave when Sydney is having a long and unusually cold winter. I hate the cold and am utterly over it! We've also had one of the wettest August's ever and it's not even half way through. At least it's not raining today as I have to make a rare trip into the office; but more rain forecast tonight and for the next few days

It started with large hailstones and progressed to thunderstorm lightning and RAIN

I wouldn't like a thunderstorm, but would love some of your rain. Hasn't rained here for weeks and weeks and weeks as I have said before and no sign in the next the days weather forecast.

I think the rain has been in a localised band, not widespread, but where it has fallen its caused flooding, I'm unconvinced it had been "helpful" rain.
I do feel for you guys who have had it so dry though.

Still no rain, but a possibility on Friday… next week! The self-sown young trees in my garden are looking rather yellow and the water butts are empty.

No rain forecast here (we did have some last week). Could do with it staying dry for the next fortnight - Manx Grand Prix starts on Sunday, motorcycle road racing like the TT. They can't race in wet conditions.

I have thought about buying a cool coat for Cass after seeing a dog wearing one two days ago and his owner was very pleased with it.
I am sure if I get one the hot summer will finish and it will rain for ever more!

Meanwhile, as you all in the UK are having drought conditions, we have had the wettest August in 27 years. If I don't see some sun soon I will go mad!
