Poppy

Took the dynamic duo out for a walk in a local meadow with a stream running along it (and of course a nice cafe for us, with a view of a castle on a hill in the distance...). The outing was much enjoyed by all! We find taking Poppy out for little jaunts keeps her happy and engaged - she tends to drag along in a rather bored and sulky manner on our normal walks, but take her somewhere new and she is alert and happy!

Loving the change of scenery:

And the Glorious Fool himself; never change, Merlin, you make us laugh every day:

So lovely to see the joy on their faces.

Poppy has had a couple of bad days. She had a very upset tummy, so we couldn't give her her anti-inflammatories, and yesterday she was so stiff and uncoordinated in the back legs, she kind of fell down the ramp into the garden. Last night she was obviously a bit uncomfortable and restless, and lay down on the wooden floor, and then in the middle of the night couldn't get back up again... Much crashing around ensued, until OH and I eventually managed to get her back on her feet and then settled. And then this morning, OH turned his back for a moment and Merlin stole her breakfast - including her medications... That said, her eyes are still bright and she usually goes for a little walk each day, especially if she is allowed to carry her little dummy into the woods, and she still eats, so I would say her quality of life is still pretty good, but she is definitely on a downward trend. It makes me so very sad. Anyway, I'm seeing the vet tomorrow morning, so we'll have a chat about maybe upping her meds.

So sorry to hear about lovely Poppy. I do hope the vet can find a way to help her.
So many of our much loved MLF dogs are ageing now, and I think we've all come to think of them as part of the family over the years.
Sending love and hugs to everyone who's going through sad times with their dogs just now. :hug:
