Cues you’ve accidentally trained

So Stanley has turned into a bit of a thief since Rory came along. He’s never been a very good “dropper”. He will leave things but you have to say leave it before he gets to it, once he’s got it that’s it it’s his.

Somehow I’ve managed to train without much effort that if I say “right that’s it - no treats!” When he’s stolen something he drops it and goes to his bed pulling his goodboy face until I release him for a treat.

What have you managed to train by accident with a ridiculous cue?

Well not that it is so ridiculous, but it seems that saying "hello" tells Cassie someone has come. Last week I was in the garden, she was lying on her chair inside, I went in and said "hello" to her, she got off the chair, picked up a toy, went to the open door, looked out into the garden. No one there, so she dropped the toy, gave me a withering look, and got back on the chair!!
And then there is the noise my treat bag makes when I move it round on the strap!!

If I say show me your willy Rory he does a deep rumbly play growl. Don't ask
Swampy, I am sitting here with a broken elbow and a boiler not working in an old house that has been empty for three weeks and is COLD. I have had to put two hot water bottles in the bed even though it's June. You have made me laugh so loudly it woke GGJ up, and I'm still chuckling. That's a special talent........ or something! Thankyou xxx

When OH and I turn up with our dinner in the living room (we eat on the sofa like slobs) Chewie leaps onto "his" chair and leaves us in peace. It is very sweet.

If I say "is it daddy?" He runs around looking for OH

He also knows the words "dinner," "food," "treat" and I'm pretty sure he self identifies as "doggo."

@SwampDonkey I think you owe us an explanation! Hahaha.

Sadly with Molls it's opening the fridge door, taking something out and putting it on the work top. She can be apparently unconscious in her bed but as soon as I take anything out of the fridge there she is sitting in the doorway on red alert.

The trouble is, I'm such a clumsy 'chef' bits of grub inevitably end up on the floor when I'm preparing meals and Molly is convinced her main life's work is slurping up everything I drop |(

When we order a Chinese take-away I stand by the window in the kitchen and watch for the delivery man.
Maisy knows what this is all about - first the phone call, laying the table, standing by the window - it means a man is coming with a bag of food.
She paces the hallway with a toy in her mouth waiting for him, sometimes it can take 45mins and she just constantly wanders up and down. When he comes he always makes a fuss of her and of course she gets a few prawn crackers.

Oh yes - laying the table. Tatze knows this means visitors and looks out of the window until they arrive.

Mr Boogs is our chef and, when we aren’t being posh and laying the table - ie all the time unless we have visitors - we eat at the breakfast bar. As soon as he puts the plates out they rush to their beds as it’s Kong time.

:)

Homer comes up and sits next to me while I’m having my tea and toast breakfast - not for the cuddles but for the corner of my toast.

If either of us go up to bed first he’ll come up and lie next to us, then as soon as the other goes to bed he’ll jump off and sleep in his own bed next to ours. He’s worked out there’s not enough room for three in the bed.
