I am so dreadfully sorry to hear your news. It seemed as though you had her stabilised and she was enjoying life. Such a shock that she went downhill so quickly but she had a super fabulous
time with you and couldn’t have had more lovely owners. xx
I’m so so sorry to read about Axel. But you’ve done the best and wisest thing for him in the circumstances. He left you knowing how much he was loved and that’s all we can do for these dogs that give us their all. Sending love and hugs. X
Hi David I’ve also been having a think about your problems with training. Reading the pony thread I think that gundog work is just so different from the scentwork that she’s been trained. Poppy is used to finding the article or scent and then being rewarded ie party time once you’ve found the...
I hope you don’t mind me replying but your post really struck a cord with me. I’ve been where you are on several occasions and now have come to terms with the limitations and characteristics of my dogs. I’ve got a dog here that wants to do nothing but pick game on a shoot and I’ve no picking up...
I feel your pain. It makes me wonder why we complain about labradors. It’s over 40 years since I had a spaniel and it certainly wasn’t a working cocker. They never stop! My ndn has a girl
Poodle of the same age and she is so much more sane than Chip!
It’s a long time since I posted anything but I thought I would bring you up to speed on how we are getting on with our training.
Pickle has gone from strength to strength and has been super easy to train. I do have
be careful that I don’t over train her as more than two sessions a week and...
Good to hear from you @Peartree . How are the Labs getting on gundog wise?
All good on the Gundog front I’ll go onto the Gundog forum and give you some explanations
This is a one year old cockerpoo and as he lives in London, coming to our house is like coming to the dog equivalent of Disney Land. He is completely mental and never stops. We used to lock him in a small area of the hall for our sanity and the dogs! I think it’s going to be a long time until...
I know I haven’t been here for some time but it’s been busy in my house over the last year!
My daughter has had her first baby and we offered to have her young cockerpoo pup while she settled home with the baby. Because of complications we ended up having him for two weeks. Omg! I totally...
I’m sorry you are feeling demoralised, but I can tell you that most people with animals struggle at some point or other. Young puppies jump and mouth generally from over tiredness but it has been reinforced in some way when with you so that he has continued with the behaviour.
Some dogs are easy...
I put one implant in Diesel so I could cover Pickles first season and liked the differences so much that I had him castrated before the implant wore off. He’s much softer and more cuddly now and I have no regrets about having it done. He has put on a little weight but he’s still pretty fit...
