    Sore tummy

Logically you are right of course, but I think most people feel differently about eating some animals vs others (or meat vs fish). I've travelled to places where dog is actually on the menu, and where the people I've been with have ordered it and tried to persuade me to eat it. They make the...

Staffie saves Toy Pom from drowning

Amazing from the staffie, though pretty frightening to see. Someone that used to live near me lost their dog in their garden pool - it got under the pool cover somehow and got trapped. It was awful, they were searching for the dog for at least a week before they checked the pool. Really...

    Nisha Noo

I'm so sorry. It is so sad to think of Nisha's life, but you made a difference. She experienced kindness and people acting with care for her and I'm sure she recognised that, even if her learned fear ran deeper.

Baby Day Care - Doggy type.

Awwwwww she is gorgeous. She really does look all cocker, her coat particularly. Sounds like she has got her paws well under the table / in the pond. That's certainly a cocker trait!

    hypoallergenic dog foods?

Not really I suppose! The RC is expensive, but so are the other options we are looking at. It is soy-based, which seems a bit odd for a long term diet but I guess it's balanced and designed to be sufficiently nutritious for long-term. Brodie doesn't seem to LOVE it but he eats it happily...

    hypoallergenic dog foods?

Just coming back to this thread to say that the Royal Canin HA food made a huge difference to Brodie and he has solid poos consistently now. So what next?? I need to decide whether to buy another £70 bag of RC or start thinking about introducing a "permanent" food. The HA has made such a...

    What made you smile today?

Clever Tuppence! Jess can open doors that are even slightly ajar but she's never figured out lever handles (though I suppose she does have a height disadvantage on a labrador), and never jumps or climbs onto surfaces generally. Brodie is the opposite - excellent at climbing and jumping and...

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

I'm actually in a similar position at the moment @Candy My bedside books are piling up precisely because I'm not reading them! I take a book to bed to read but don't read it and it lies around getting joined by more and more friends. I'm reading less than I ever have, in terms of reading for...

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

Funnily enough I was looking at that book today! I have a copy of it and have never read it, and was just thinking I should really read it. I think I've read Shantaram but can't remember much about it other than the cover. I spent quite a bit of time in SE Asia when I was younger and there...

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

All this talk of books has made me assess the "to read" pile beside my bed... don't think I need to go out looking for more :$

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

I love Amitav Ghosh! I've read lots of his but not the Calcutta Chromosome. I think he has a new book out too? He is one of my favourite authors. I also like William Dalrymple's non-fiction books on Indian history. I have read quite a bit of Kate Atkinson and Ali Smith though I didn't like...

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

@Joy we seem to have similar tastes! What else are you reading?! My attention span for reading seems to be shot at the moment and I also have a huge backlog of work stuff to get through before I can read for fun, but I'd like to get some books in for when that is possible again! Girl, Woman...

My Labrador Friends Book Club - Fiction Choice

@Selina27 someone else recommended that Pat Barker book to me. I loved her Regeneration trilogy, I read them years and years ago but they were so moving and real. I must get Silence of the Girls. My friend's description made it sound a bit like Circe by Madeleine Miller, which I also loved...
