    Mr Stanley Blue

I have a small jewelry box with some of my children's baby teeth in it ... and some of the dogs' baby teeth too!! :giggl: (Bit weird I know...) Hopefully Stanley feels the positive vibes on the forum and continues to sleep longer!!

    Red is not well

I sometimes wonder if that's why some old dogs are surrendered to animal shelters, because their owners just can't afford the constant costs that having an older dog entails. Poppy costs us around 300 pounds in vet bills alone each month at present. She cannot be insured due to her epilepsy. Of...

    Poppy not eating!!!

She is a bit quiet (understandably) but better than yesterday, and the diarrhea has stopped. She's getting lots of love and cuddles, and gentle trips down the garden. This afternoon we're going to take her over the road into the woods for a good sniff around; that will chirp her up a bit.

This is so true - you won't remember the not sleeping stuff and you'll tell everyone what an angel of a pup he was and how he slept through the night no problems!

    Poppy not eating!!!

Six weeks later and Poppy is unwell again. She had diarrhea on Thursday, though she seemed ok in herself, but this morning we came down to a huge pile of diarrhea and blood (in the bathroom, bless her!). Our vet is not normally open on a Saturday, but I called her mobile and she said to bring...

    Red is not well

Oh gosh Alison I've just read this - what an awful time you've been through! I am so relieved to hear that Red is doing better now. Poppy is also unwell and is on antibiotics. :(

I'm sure that the nipping will stop now that his big teeth are coming in.

    Rats 🐀

Absolutely agree with this. Rats are everywhere; the only real way to get rid of them is to eliminate their food source. So if you are feeding the birds; stop feeding them. If you have a compost bin, make sure you are only composting green stuff from the garden and kitchen, nothing that rats...

Will he sleep on his own out of the crate??

    Poppy not eating!!!

She was so chirpy and the weather is so glorious that we took a short drive up into the hills by us. Poppy was soooo happy!! (Helped of course by the very nice cafe...)

    Poppy not eating!!!

She is back to normal!! Eating with gusto, and did a little bit of dummy searching in the forest with us yesterday!! So happy she's better... Another 300 pounds to the vet... but hey...

    Galliprant for arthritis

It's so hard isn't it Jaq? I can't help with any information regarding painkillers I'm afraid, but I do think that as long as Lilly seems happy, enjoys her walks, food, and cuddles, and as long as you can deal with the incontinence, then all is ok - especially since we are now coming into the...

Tick and flea products are killing birds and bees

I absolutely agree, and am totally aware of just how poisonous tick and flea medications are. Our woods are literally crawling with ticks, which can also carry borreolosis in our area, but I don't use anything at all on Poppy (just check her all the time), and only the collar on Merlin - and...

    Poppy not eating!!!

Poppy continues to improve, though she still only wants to eat the special sensitive diet kibble. She is hungry for that though! She went for a 30 minute walk with Merlin and me this morning. One more vet visit tomorrow, and hopefully she will be ok by the weekend. Phew!
