    Flicka

What a wonderful, uplifting post!! Thank you for updating us Sonia. I am thrilled to read about Flicka's progress - you have worked wonders with her! Just shows what can be inside every 'difficult' dog... Well done you xxx Now we just need a few more photos... ;)

    Dandruff

Hoping that Ella's limp clears up quickly, ditto the dandruff. Sometimes Poppy gets very dry skin and fur; I give her fish oil and buy her expensive B vitamin supplements that seem to help quite quickly.

Thank you all. I think part of it is that my old dogs were so long-lived; Bones was 14 when he died and Billy nearly 16, but I am really happy that we still have Poppy and that she is a happy girl, even though many of her activities are curtailed.

    Poppy

Today was a good day, thank you! We did a little walk this morning, just around 15 minutes or so, and she was very chirpy and trotted along happily. OH took Merlin out for a couple of hours this afternoon and I took Poppy to her aqua treadmill appointment. We walked there (about 10 minutes...

One thing that can be guaranteed to get her going is to suggest that we get the dummies out... That will never change! Of course no retrieving, but we carry a few dummies into the woods (only a five minute walk), and I hide them in the leaf mold and she searches for them, it really means she has...

She is definitely deteriorating; in addition to her bad front left elbow she now also seems rather lame on her right front leg (physio says as a result of trying to ease the left leg), and her back legs are losing strength and mobility. She still goes...

    ?Infection

I think this is the hardest thing - we love our dogs so much, and the responsibility and ultimately the decision to let them go resides with us. It is such a hard choice. I feel deeply for you, and I know you will keep second-guessing yourself for weeks, but you did the right thing.

Dear Naya, I am so very sorry. It's the hardest thing to do, but you know it was right and that Harley's time had come. She was a very much loved dog and a true star of our forum - I always felt connected to her because, you know, red labradors... Big, big hugs to you xxx
