    Undigested Food

Twice in the last 2/3 weeks Hattie has vomited her breakfast 4 hours after she has eaten it. It is undigested. I have inspected it and nothing odd in it that I can see. Is this something I should be worried about? She is absolutely her normal self, eating, walking, playing, sleeping. Thank you. xxx

Hattie's Last Pets as Therapy Visit

On 28th June Hattie and I made our last visit as Pets as Therapy. It was the Hospice Day Care summer BBQ which made our last day extra special. It was a Hawaiian theme so of course we wore our flower garlands. We went up on to the ward and the hospice to say our goodbyes to patients and staff...

    Change in Hattie's Bark

My vet thinks Hattie has a loose larynx which sometimes happens in older larger dogs. She hacks quite a bit as she is trying to clear her throat which is is due to food particles sometimes getting trapped in the larynx. The other thing is her bark has changed from quite a deep bark to a much...

    Do Midges Bite Dogs?

Charlie is rubbing his face on the rug and seems to be scratching since we arrived in Scotland. There are a lot of midges so I wondered do they bite dogs? xx

    Lyme Disease

I've just watched this, it's a real eye opener as to how serious this disease is, also the long term effects in some people and it's on the increase even in towns/cities especially in Scotland - great! xx BBC iPlayer - Disclosure - Series 1: 9. Under the Skin

    Hattie is Retiring

Hattie has been a Pets as Therapy dog for 3 1/2 years, making her weekly trips to the Hospice and hospital wards. We are going to spend two months from next weekend in Scotland with some of our children then hopefully making our final move soon after so it is a good time to leave. Hattie is...

    Good Night 'S'

I found out this week that a Boxer in our village had to be put to sleep due to a brain tumour, he was almost 11 years old and one of Hattie's favourite friends but Charlie's nemisis. Hattie has lost three of her best friends in 15 months and all younger than her. So very sad. Sweet dreams...

    Lucky Fawn

This morning Hattie and I had a lovely walk in the woods. Hattie started to do a prolonged air sniff, obviously something very interesting, without any cues at all she then turned and came back to me for a treat. What she had smelt/seen about 10 feet from us was a little Fawn in the...

Advice Needed Please - Very off Topic!!

I hope nobody minds me going very off topic but I could do with some advice. In November 2018 my Newphew phoned asking me to be a guarantor on a loan for £1,000 I would not, not only because I didn't want to but also I was worried about the high interest he would incurr. David and I chatted and...

I Found this Lump on Charlie

Yesterday I noticed Charlie had a wet patch of fur on his right hand side just at the bottom of his ribcage. When I felt it I thought it was a tick but it's definitely not. Any ideas please? Sorry about the photo quality my phone is rubbish. Thanks xx

    "Wash Your Feet"

Just for fun I have been teaching Hattie to wash her feet! Today it came in very handy as we sank into a muddy bog in the forest so we headed off down to the river, in she went I cued "wash your feet" It is hilarious to watch, she stands in the water and stamps her feet up and down to clean...

    Bargain Aigle Wellies!

My trusty Aigle wellies split so I bought these a few weeks ago at an absolute bargain price of £57.00 reduced from £240.00 (never in a million years!!) I bought a size 3.5 instead of a 4 as I find Aigles do come up big around the ankle, I have a very slim foot and calves, these are adjustable...

    Collar Mystery

About a month ago David took Charlie for a walk in the woods. Charlie went off lead keeping in sight but on his return he didn't have his lovely Copenhagen collar on which he has only had for about 2 months. Charlie was quite worried with his tail between his legs. David backtracked to see if...

    Something Between My Legs!!

Couldn't resist that title ha!! I took Hattie & Charlie for a lovely walk today, what lovely walk with Charlie I hear you say! :giggl: I took them to a place that is quite unfamiliar to Charlie for the second day. We walked down a footpath between a wooded area and on the other side open...

    Collar v Harness

Charlie has been walked on a harness for some years now as we felt we had more control if he lunged or pulled. Having changed him to the Copenhagen wide collar and a 6 loop Grippy lead a week ago I am finding it's the complete opposite. He is far more relaxed on a collar. He is walking far...

    Hattie's Yearly MOT

I took Hattie to the vet this morning for her annual vaccinations and MOT. Her weight is steady and spot on, teeth really good. Her fatty lumps have increased in size but still normal. Unfortunately her eyes have got worse, the cloudiness is far more obvious now, but I guess she's a year older...

    Copenhagen Collar

I bit the bullet and bought Charlie one of these collars because in exciting situations Charlie sometimes tries and sometimes suceeds in slipping his collar. I went for this one even though it's expensive because it's padded, 4cm wide so better for his neck and hopefully he won't find it so...

    Sleep Tight 'D'

I have just heard that a lady I walk with in our village had to have her Doberman PTS just before Christmas. He was diagnosed with Wobblers disease, apparently common in Dobermans. They are devastated. He didn't quite make his 8th birthday by a few days. He was one of Hattie's friends. We will...
