    There is also the "Retrieving for All Occasions" videos - I think you can access them on You Tube. I'd forgotten about them, I seem to remember they use toys and tuggy games.

    This is so Natalie - but we do have youngsters who have joined us and it is great to follow their progress :happy: (Stilton, Duncan, Stanley, Odin , Jazz and now Cassie). Hope I haven't left anyone out!

    I'm no expert but I can say what worked with Cassie! A bit of a multi pronged approach really - a combination of having taught "Hand Touch" which meant she learnt to push her nose into my hand , and also doing Clicker retrieve, which @edzbird has put on a thread on here. Plus some 121 gundog...

    @Joy thanks for the video's - again! I think I will dig out my clicker so Cass and I can revisit this in our new environments, she enjoys the interaction of training and while sniffy walks are great sometimes getting from A to B will be the aim of the game!

    @Karen, I think loose lead walking is so difficult to teach! @Joy sent me a really nice video by the IMDT school , I will see if I can find it , if she doesn't see this first! I definitely agree short bursts of training are best.
