She’s groggy and whining a lot, but that’s to be expected.

Thanks all. She is out of surgery. Leg repair went well. They removed the tumour and have sent it off. Her liver function is higher than it should be, but they will monitor. Picking her up at 6.20pm. last night we set her pen up and later in the evening I turned round and she was in there 💕

Thanks all…..operation is tomorrow. We are going in at 9am and I am starting to worry again. My plan is to go to the park across from the surgery for 10 minutes before we go in to give her a happy start to the day. No food is going to be a challenge as always!

I think she will benefit from it as will help take pressure off her back leg. The vet suggested it for after surgery, but we thought we would see if it helps her before, plus helps her get used to it. It’s this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07MXCF3MB?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

Today Harley has been struggling a lot. This photo I took shows her pain through her facial expression. She is a very expressive dog (I think). Tonight I have got the new support harness out to try and help. It goes under her belly and has straps that I hold to help her not put too much weight...

Librela - a new option for pain relief for dogs with osteo arthritis

Harley moves a lot in her sleep - she runs, gruffs and sometimes barks. We think she is dreaming.

Thank you all. I’m feeling a bit better today and have written down some more questions for the vet for tomorrow and have started planning for her recovery. They did say that they will probably remove any tumours they find. I’ve brought a large pen and some washable mats which we will set up in...

    ?Infection

I’m really struggling today. I am probably overthinking things but I am questioning if we made the right decision. I’m worried about having to have her on complete rest for at least 6 weeks as she’s an active dog even with a ruptured Achilles tendon. She will have to be confined to a small space...

    ?Infection

At first I was hesitant as was worried about the mast cells and putting her through surgery without knowing. I asked a lot of questions about recovery and what if the biopsy shows an aggressive tumour. We talked for nearly an hour with me firing lots of questions at him. My OH just said to do...

    ?Infection

Last night the vets called to say the ortho surgeon wanted to see her today. He had a meeting with my head vet yesterday who spoke about his concerns on Harleys hock and the fact that she can barely walk. We had our appointment with him and he’s decided that he wants to operate and do the biopsy...

    ?Infection

He said we will discuss options for this on Friday. He doesn’t want to suggest anything that could cause more damage, so just rest.

    ?Infection

Vet thinks her Achilles Tendon is ruptured, but ortho team won’t see her until a biopsy has been done and depending on what the results are depends on what they will / won’t do. Vet said she also has the start of laryngeal paralysis but and this could indicate that she might have tumours in her...

    ?Infection

Thanks all. I drove Harley to a local park today, she had a 2 min mooch about then we sat and just people / dog watched. She was so chilled which never happens when we are out. I think she liked the change of scenery. We sat for over half hour then I had to lift her back into the car (my poor...

    ?Infection

Managed to speak to the vets an hour ago. There are 2 things going on. 1 Mast cells were identified in the fine needle aspiration. 2. The orthopaedics think she’s ruptured or torn her Achilles tendon. A CT scan and biopsy have both been suggested. My vet wants to speak to the orthopaedic...

    Insurance

Harleys insurance went up to £125 per month and we couldn’t claim on anything around arthritis, or stomach issues. We decided to put money aside each month (May come to regret this soon!)

I’m going to chase the vet today for any results and ask for liquid painkiller. I didn’t realise you could get it!

    ?Infection

Yes. It was the head vet who owns the practice that done the biopsy and X-rays. He is usually meticulous. 75% of the time she is which helps. The other 25% she spits them out and after a few tries I give up as she gets so stressed. It’s so hard waiting!

    ?Infection

We have tried heat and cold and neither seems to help (doesn’t help that she won’t keep it on for more than 2 minutes!). She’s always on tiptoe on that foot and when she walks her hock nearly hits the floor. We went for a 5 min walk yesterday (end of our road and back), most of it was sniffing...

    Such a crying shame

That is so annoying. I understand how one thing can change our dogs perception/ feelings because of 1 stupid person. I hope positive games can help x
