Walking into Rowan's room this morning and seeing this- it's a huge dinosaur encyclopaedia.

So do we. Chewie is so good at telling us what he needs and wants in his doggy way. He also understands words in context. He can hear the word "give" and not care. "Chewie" might get half a sleepy eye open but "give Chewie" gets both eyes open and ears up.

How lovely. I wish Chewie was more playful. He does love cavorting around with empty nursery pots though. The crinkly sound and unpredictable bounce brings out his inner puppy.

Chewie has really been on fire lately. We had more friends visiting from London today with their 3 year old and Chewie was lovely. He was repeatedly described as "so calm and gentle." 😱 And Rowan told the little guest "don't worry because Chewie knows not to snatch food from children!"

We took Chewie to my aunty's house for lunch today. There were 12 people there including us and two other young kids, in quite a small house. Chewie was so well behaved. Just puttered around and eventually fell asleep. Oh and got kisses from some new lady friends. 🤣

Chewie likes to quietly lie down behind you when you're chopping things or handling hot drinks...

R got to bring the preschool toy golden retriever home for the weekend and he has been so excited to do everything with him, including introducing him to Chewie and our collection of toy Labradors.

Snakes the most. Then spiders, but only when they take me by surprise or touch me. I'm fine to be in the garden working next to large St Andrews Cross or orb weaver spiders for example.

Chewie still barks and jumps on people, he's just a LOT smaller than Maxx so maybe it doesn't seem as intrusive?

Things have been a blur since we got back from Japan, but I got some feedback from Chewies carers while we were away. 1) Our personal trainer looked after him for the first week and said he was lovely. Wouldn't accept any payment and took Chewie to meet his mum who said that he was a wonderful...

Chewie loves Labs and Goldens. And when they greet it's mostly sniffing and wiggling rather than over excited carrying on. Except Toffee, because she likes to shout her joy about meeting Chewie to the whole neighbourhood... He is also into staffies, possibly because as a pup he had a staffy...

Hugo looks so grown up now. 😍 Chewie does lazy sits when he wakes up from a nap in a chair. He sits there slow blinking and looking a bit confused before doing a big stretch (sometimes so big he falls over...) and lying down again.

My dear friend Alice had to put her 5yo staffie Barry to sleep a few days ago. He contracted a mystery illness that affected his brain (he was obtunded, couldn't really move) and his kidneys. Since he was so young they did lots of tests and tried treating him empirically. He briefly rebounded...

It's so hard to keep a young dog quiet... We have definitely had to keep Chewie supervised when he was too young and boisterous to be trusted look after himself.

We are going on our first overseas holiday since COVID soon and a certain little chap is so very excited. He woke up from sleep this evening to tell me "mummy the Trapan Jip (Japan trip) is a HOLLYDAY" before passing out.
