    What fresh hell is this?

If it's any consolation @Leanne I've been up since 4:45 this morning with 2 happy, excited choccie girls. Not sure why one of them barked, not even 100% sure which one barked, but they were VERY excited to see me. Think fully co-ordinated whole body wags, with a toy clamped in the mouth :)

    What fresh hell is this?

If you had a period of no biting I would probably go for the start of teething. Juno was 16/17 weeks when she started teething. Just keep on with what you had been doing and always have nice chew toys to hand - it will get better. I find old tea towels cut into strips and plaited, soaked in...

    Merlin hurt

Oh no! So sorry to hear of the latest problem with Merlin :(. At CT scan does sound a sensible option at this time to try and find out what is going on so a rehab plan can be put in place. You have my sympathy - it is so hard sometimes managing a young dog with dysplasia while at the same time...

    Patience

She waited so patiently for it fill and then jumped in as soon as we said she could and was bouncing around and then laying down - such a happy girl. Became distracted when OH started spraying the hose around the garden - sigh. Men!!

    Patience

OH finally located the hiding place of Juno's paddling pool (we haven't seen it since our move in Dec 2015), and with Juno's bestie arriving soon Juno decided to monitor the pool filling up ?. Such patience ??

Helping new puppies get used to sounds.

This is a great resourc from Dog's Trust and one I recommend frequently. Volume should be barely audible, which of course is an interesting discussion as we all have different sensitivities to sound :(

    What a boy!

Our dogs make us proud when we least expect it sometimes. Yesterday we visited my daughter and went to a local pub for lunch. On entering the pub and walking towards our table an elderly asked if she could say hello to Juno and stroke her. I just asked Juno to come and sit beside me and she very...

Food Supplements and Joint Disease – is there any evidence?

Hey never stingy ?. I'm just used to not being able to claim for anything for Juno - everything has to be paid for out of income/savings but the cost of her glucosamine would fall below the minimum to reclaim unless I bought in large stock. I just don't tend to think of the cost of supplements...

Food Supplements and Joint Disease – is there any evidence?

Oh poor Harley ?. It may be worth trying one of the other brands as formulations are different. Joint Aid for example is a granule you sprinkle on the food rather than a tablet.

This whole feeding thing is a minefield.

Steady weight gain is the ideal - well it is for me ??. Juno gained weight at around 500g a week. I used to pop her in the vets every 4 weeks to be weighed but used to predict her weight before hand and was only 100g or so out at any time.

Food Supplements and Joint Disease – is there any evidence?

I've used Yumove, Joint Aid and currently using Synoquin (which was recommended by my vet when discussing supplements). If I remember correctly I went for the Synoquin when I wasn't happy with Joint Aid instead of goung back to Yumove because the Synoquin delivers more glucosamine and...

Food Supplements and Joint Disease – is there any evidence?

I don't have any insurance for Juno as everyone excludes her ED in the UK and even our French insurer wouldn't pay for her op etc as it was 'hereditary' or 'congenital'. I just order what I need on line. Glucosamine I buy as a box of 120 tablets and use 1 a day for around £57. Salmon oil usually...

Food Supplements and Joint Disease – is there any evidence?

It was the physio at my then Dr's practice that recommended taking a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement. The specific advise was for it to possibly have any real benefit you need to ensure that the actual dosage you receive is 1500mg per day which is around 1000g of active ingredient.

This whole feeding thing is a minefield.

I've had a quick look at the vet 'freebie' and I wouldn't be happy not knowing the % of ingredients. Descriptions such as Dried chicken, rice aren't particularly helpful, ideally you want to know % dried chicken and % rice etc so you can assess the protein level. Also I don't like foods with...
