    Small Black Dog

Thank you, it's really nice to know that. She got 6 good years after the surgery - not completely pain free. If she executed a really tight turn she sometimes had pain towards the end of the 6 years, but she was able to do a limited amount of work picking up which she absolutely enjoyed. She...

    Small Black Dog

Not brilliant to be honest, but it is what it is. Time needed. Thank you. My office is now festooned with dog toys that she used to bring to me on the bum for a treat! Is this normal? :wasntme:

    Possible Rescue Dog

I guess if you foster then there could be the option of taking the dog on full time depending on the circumstances ie the dog's owner isn't just in need of a period of respite for some reason. My problem with this would be forming a bond with the new dog. I'd be nervous of that.

    Possible Rescue Dog

I know it's very soon after the SBD, but I feel I'm going nuts with the loss at the moment. I'm not going to make any major decisions until a suitable amount of time has passed (this is code for not breaking up every time I think of the SBD) but as a means of keeping my sanity I'm looking at...

    Small Black Dog

Today and quite suddenly. It was the right thing to do. A lovely dog and companion and very stoical right up the the end. The vet was lovely with her and we did it in the back of the car on her bed with us both by her side. Lady - 3rd September 2009 - 8th October 2020.

Embarrassing moments with my dog 😳

Red was probably trying to "rescue" the swimmer. A friend had a Lab that wouldn't let him swim in the sea. kept dragging him back to shore - or trying to.

    Not taking it any further

My son was working Lady on the shoot when I was a gun. It was hilarious. I was watching them with one eye across the other side of a field when he sent her after a bird and Lady picked it up and promptly brought it to me! :cwl:

    Not taking it any further

I think you are right not to get outside what you are comfortable with, but you might still be able to have a go at picking up if you can find a friendly farm shoot to take him on. I think find one where they aren't too "up them selves". Generally one with lots of down to earth farmers...

Small Black Dog Strikes (unexpectedly) Again - and guess who's in the doghouse!

On the clearing the garden shed front, so far I've found ..... 1 pair of secateurs 2 tenon saws 1 electric pruner 1 dummy launcher 1 Dutch hoe 1 hand tiller and a huge pile of hazelnut shells that explains were they where going after disappearing off the hazelnut trees!

Small Black Dog Strikes (unexpectedly) Again - and guess who's in the doghouse!

Well 2 1/2. Fortunately as a supreme gundog (retired) (ahem!) she has a very soft mouth so we rescued one egg with just a small canine tooth indent. Spanish omelette tonight! Actually, yes I agree. We weren't cross with her (although someone not a million miles away was cross with me)...

Small Black Dog Strikes (unexpectedly) Again - and guess who's in the doghouse!

Rosemary back from the supermarket. Me unloaded the car and left all the shopping in the back room. Rosemary out delivering shopping to a friend who is isolating. Me down the garden clearing out a garden shed. Lady last seen asleep on the sofa. You know what is coming next, don't you...
