    The woman I met yesterday

Our cat, Tom, would often come with us over the fields when we went for a walk but not very far. He'd stop and go back after a bit. The one worry was a railway line that runs at the back of the house and he had to cross that to come with us. No danger of getting knocked down by a train...

    The woman I met yesterday

Well cats can swim as our old cat, Tom demonstrated when he fell in the pond. :cwl: I'm not sure how a cat would cope with the combination of falling in with a Lab in hot pursuit AND go over the falls (or rapidly descending rapids as in the case of Golitha :giggl:). I assume she hasn't got a...

    Clawing the ground

Yay! Having a good day today. We walked to the field and did a triangular walk on a couple of footpaths that make for a short circular walk. "We" even did a bit of running! The SBD was quite tired when we got back but is currently chewing a chew next to me. Onwards and - well who knows?

    Clawing the ground

Thank you all for your very supportive replies. It's just life of course. The inevitable happening. Just off to attempt a short walk out - don't hold your breath! If that fails I'll take her to the woods again. We both like that.

    Clawing the ground

Not sure about mixing drugs. I'll ask the vet this afternoon when I pick up a new supply. I think we are getting near a decision time if I'm being honest with myself. One tends to think all is going to be ok even if things are bad with the arthritis, but the reality is she's in a mess and...

    Clawing the ground

I cut her dosage of gabapentin down from 3 tabs a day to 2 and her tramadol from 2 tabs to 2 x 3/4 per day a couple of days before we went away for a long weekend to Harrogate. I let the kennels know about the revised dosage of course and said to put her back on the normal dose if she got into...

She's been on Tralieve but it's not available at the moment. I'll ask about alternatives.

    Clawing the ground

It's something that she's done from time to time but lately it's become quite frequent to the point I'm noticing it. As Anne says above she could be getting a bit confused. She's not that old (11yrs in September) but she's on quite strong drugs so that could be a factor as well. Agree it's...

    Clawing the ground

At the risk of becoming paranoid about her, Lady is starting to claw the patio or dig holes in corners against the house walls. I've a feeling this may be a bad sign related to stress. Any other wisdom?

    Dogs and storms

We had the mother and father of all downpours yesterday at about 14:00 for about an hour. Not much thunder but very heavy rain that just went on and on. It was so heavy at times that the muck it brought down off the roof has splashed up the sides of the house to a height of about 5 ft. All...

    Lady getting worse

They look good and just the job. I wonder if the Dutch Expat Shop sells them. That's where I get my coffee from. 😂 Seriously I'll look properly later. Many thanks.

    Lady getting worse

The Thule look great but way more than I'm wanting to spend. Also Jacqui has a point above about the small front wheels on the one I was looking at.
