    Parvo virus

In the 5 years of having Cupar, our vets have had 1 confirmed case twice. I got Cupar titre tested at a year old and his parvo antibodies were at the top end of the scale, which reassured me that the vaccine had worked.

    What made you smile today?

I'm so thankful that I no longer focus on the negative and focus more on the positive. I missed most of my life because of it negativity. Before I would only be able to focus on the fact that Cassie is now on borrowed time and how old she really is but now, still aware of her aging I focus on...

    My dog cannot walk

Cupar says " why walk when you can run?" Cupar is nearly 6 years old and still finds it extremely difficult to walk.

    Toby's Growl

First he's gorgeous and I think he's a talker. We had a dog that did that when he was getting tummy rubs. The one I have now seldom barks but uses so many different noises to communicate, my particular favourite is when he wants something, it's mumumumumum.

It is perfectly OK not to socially interact with a stranger who is approaching you

I This is where I'm at. I wish someone had gave me permission years ago. It makes such a difference to Cupar, to just concentrate on Cupar, instead of feeling obliged to acknowledge and justify to complete strangers why my dogs going crazy. I use it's OK and good boy a lot now, all the time...

    Tatze is drooling excessively :(

I rushed Cupar to the vet a few weeks ago for excessive drooling, I googled it and got nightmares that it was bloat. The vet gave him a thorough going over and found nothing. It was later that evening before the drooling subsided but it was a terrifying few hours, so I completely understand...

Socialisation with the benefit of hindsight

If I could go back in time it would be to teach Cupar how and when to greet humans. I made the mistake of allowing the human to throw toys for him to fetch, all the while believing that this would reinforce good feelings towards people. Instead it reinforced a behaviour of expecting every...

    Doggy brags

Two things today with Cupar to brag about but it's also a brag on my own behalf, ( this is something I grew up being told not to do). I'm extremely proud of Cupar but also extremely proud of myself for having trained these things. First was coming back from our walk, we walk into the sheep...

Oh dear, long line for the boy

Your right to use the long line. I found when Cupar was about a year old it was birds that he wanted to chase and as I've witnessed a dog being allowed to nearly run itself to death chasing birds, I also didn't want to be like Fentons owner, I had enough of that with Jake. We're now at a stage...

Oh dear, long line for the boy

No, because the rats eat all the seeds that the birds drop. I've seen them( yes plural) in action.

It's not the dog bed, it's location!!!!

She really is special. I know she must be in pain in her hips but when I brush her hips , if it hurts, she licks me, how many dogs would lick you? She has never once growled at any human, large or small. I don’t talk about her as much as Cupar because I can never find the words.

It's not the dog bed, it's location!!!!

After OH came home with a bigger plastic bed for Cassie, I put her small bed in sitting room. I have been feeling guilty for ages as she sleeps in the kitchen, in her bed. I had tried putting double vet bedding on the floor of sitting room, she never used it. Today, she has the new bed in the...

    Vacuum cleaners

That's 3 of you using the shark. I have an elderly lady that I clean for and she has one, I absolutely hate it. It's like going to the gym. It doesn't move like a normal vacuum cleaner. So why would this thing be as bad?

    What made you smile today?

My OH coming home today with a big pink plastic dog bed for Cassie. We're off to the 'big house' next week for the weekend and the big sitting room is up the posh stairs, on discussing the sleeping arrangements for the dogs, I decided I would borrow another plastic dog bed to allow Cassie the...

    Vacuum cleaners

I have used soooooo many vacuum cleaners over the years because of my job. The old ones, hoover, Electrolux etc were built to last but we're not very powerful. The new ones are all built to fall apart but are more powerful. The houses that I still clean have upright Dyson and I'm lucky there is...

    Vacuuming—sooooooo much hair

Cassie as she has got older, sheds more hair than ever. It's constant, I did start a post on ' my dog is turning into a golden retriever ' it's that bad. Hundreds of pooky bits. Pull one pooky bit and another 10 appear. At the moment I'm trying to brush her every day. I'm using ALL these...
