The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Some airlines do 'economy plus' which is not much more expensive but gives extra leg room, usually about 4-6 inches. It doesn't sound much but its the difference between having your knees under your chin and having both feet on the floor.

    What made you smile today?

I think the whoop and the big grin gave the game away.

    What made you smile today?

What made me smile today? Flying my model aircraft in strong winds I managed to land it vertically. I pointed it into wind, throttled back, and it just lowered itself onto the runway. The club chairman and a bunch of other members were watching so I tried to look nonchalant (and failed).

As from today Holly's back onto her normal diet. She's eating well, her poops are normal, and she did a zoomie in the garden this afternoon. We've got our girl back!

Good poops this morning. The course of pills for settling her colitis is now finished. She’s becoming a bit more playful each day. She’s still a bit tender around her tummy. I was giving her a gentle tummy tickle this morning and she winced and pulled away. I think we still need to keep a...

    Muck Boots Wellie Review

Many years ago on my mountain leader course we had to learn about all manner of outdoor gear as part of the syllabus. The course mainly covered walking boots but much of it is equally appropriate to wellies. Choosing the right sole can make a big difference to how it performs. The tread of a...

This morning she jumped on the bed to wake us up and greeted me out the shower with a toy. The old Holly is starting to come back.

    Muck Boots Wellie Review

There are many different muck boots with different tread patterns. Ones with the good walking treads are the Muck Master and Woody Max. I've done greasy rock, steep muddy slopes and all sorts in them with no problems.

A much nicer poop this morning - firm and well formed. We had a quiet walk up a forest track for about 40 minutes. She was beginning to look a bit tired by the end of it but its the longest walks shes done for a week. Afterwards we dropped by the vet to weigh her. 27.15kg, which is a big...

She’s a little livelier this morning after a good nights sleep. No poop yet, but she sometimes waits until her walk before she poops.

I think it would really cheer her up. 30 min around the Arboretum this morning was quite enough for her.

Her poops are starting to look more normal now, suggesting that her digestive system is returning to normal. This morning we introduced a small amount of kibble into her food and will see how she reacts. She’s lost a lot of weight and energy so getting her onto a better diet will help address...

Poop number two was delivered a few minutes ago. This is very encouraging. She doesn’t have much energy at the moment. Over the next few days we’ll get her back onto normal food, then start building up her weight and energy.

WE HAVE A POO !!!!!!!! OK, its small and streaked with a bit of blood (presumably from everything that's been stuck inside her since Monday) but its a poo. Hopefully the recovery starts from here.

She’s not got much energy but seems OK otherwise. We’ve been taking her for 10-15 minute sniffy lead walks to keep her mind active. The movement might also encourage some bowel activity.

Nothing yet. She's had several short walks to try and encourage a poop. If we don't get anything tomorrow morning I'm calling the vet. Its 3 days since the barium meal and no sign of a poop.
