    What made you smile today?

Ruth and I managed to clean and wash half a tub of strawberries before Holly realised we were in the kitchen.

    What made you smile today?

We've been testing Holly's hearing while she recuperates. Today I found out that sliding a yoghurt lid half an inch along the kitchen bench can wake her up in her basket in the living room.

    Holly at the vet again

She's moving much more easily, thanks. We've been taking one or two short walks around the estate each day to give her some air and a bit of mental stimulus. Now that lockdown rules are easing in Wales we're thinking of taking her to the Dog Dip tomorrow. Its about an hour's round trip with a...

    Holly at the vet again

There were no sore spots on her back. I'm inclining towards a small problem with knee or hips. We'll stick with the vet's advice of gentle walks and keep an eye on her.

    Holly at the vet again

Her back seems OK. Normal mobility, quite happy to bend and squirm. There are no lumps. The nails are worn, but no different to the back right. I think this is a watch and wait for now. She's seven years old and active, not in a manic playful way but she loves long long walks and swimming.

    Holly at the vet again

Holly's finished her week of enforced rest and moved onto light walks at the weekend. Today we did 30 min of gently sniffing walk around the estate. It's nice and flat, and there are plenty of grassy patches for her to sniff. Front right seems to be moving nicely, but her back left is doing...

    Writing a dog walking guide

It sounds like there's some interest in the idea. Everyone have a think about your all-time favourite walk in your area. I'm happy to act as editor if people agree. If @snowbunny agrees we could use the royalties to contribute toward the running costs of the forum, any excess going to a dog...

    Writing a dog walking guide

I thought I'd leave this thread to settle for a couple of weeks before making this suggestion. How does everyone feel about trying to do a forum book 'The Best Dog Walks in the UK'. We could also try an international version 'The Best Dog Walks in the World' but that could be construed as...

    What made you smile today?

Today we had to wash Mr Humpycushion. He was muddy and stank. We had go sneak him away while Holly wasnt looking because she’d never give him up voluntarily. Whenever Holly has wanted to play shes been looking around the house for Mr H, but had to find other toys instead. When he was clean...

    Holly at the vet again

Hot! Shes eating well and producing nice poops so were not worried about the deer bones. She seems happy to pootle around the house and garden. We‘ve decided not to walk her for few days to give her legs a rest. We‘re watching her gait closely as its still not clear whether we need to...

    Holly at the vet again

I don't think so. The immediate plan is to rest her for a few more days to see if it goes away. If not its back to the vet as that move suggests back or knee problems to me, both of which are best caught early. All this comes from running off with a deer bone!

    Holly at the vet again

Shes had a fair day today, pootling around the house and garden. Poops seem to be back to normal, and she is putting weight on her front leg again. We‘ve noticed that she turns he back left slightly inward when walking slowly, which is something we’ve not seen before. Shes having a few days...
