The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

How lovely to see you, Carbon. ❤️ It has been too long! And perhaps you’ll introduce us to your Teddy?

    Coco's tum

Poor Coco. Must’ve been so uncomfortable. Have you considered a warm towel over his abdomen to relax his muscles? You can put a tea towel in the microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up. And I totally commiserate with getting up all night and the subsequent exhaustion! Snowie is needing to go out...

    Weird lump

What a relief! And glad the vet turned out fine.

    Weird lump

It’s important that you trust the vet’s abilities. Do you think this vet is competent? Otherwise, go with your instinct.

    Weird lump

Is the black bit a scab? Could you send a photo to the vet in the meantime, to ease your mind until your appointment? My vet says that he’s not worried about lumps on top of the skin. They’re most likely warts. Usually hard and look like a teeny-tiny cauliflower.

Reuben at the Vets this afternoon

I’m so sorry. I can imagine how worried you must be. Hopefully you will quickly find out what’s causing it so that you can treat accordingly. Thinking of you both. xxx

Reuben at the Vets this afternoon

What is her reasoning? Is she thinking the red meat itself is coming out black? Or is it irritating his bowel? It did occur to me that he might be eating a lot of liver? It can come out black in poo.

I think Ted needs a bit of acknowledgment, don’t you think?! A cat teaching a dog new tricks. 😎

    Hard decision

Has he been drinking? He might be dehydrated, which can also make him constipated. Could you encourage him to drink by adding some finely chopped roast chicken to some water? I find adding a bit of boiling water first to the chicken to make it soupy, then cool it down with cold water, is...

Snowie’s paws are too sore for walking

Thank you! ❤️ Re the buggy, it might have to come to that. Although our vet said it was important for him to move every day. I wish he was a swimmer, but he’s never enjoyed swimming. He has access to our swimming pool, but he will only walk along the in-pool seat. Refuses to retrieve anything...

Snowie’s paws are too sore for walking

Thank you all for your kind words. So difficult to know if I’m doing the right thing. He had the best afternoon in the forest. My husband came, too, and was so happy to see Snowie so happy (he usually doesn’t join us in the forest). And afterwards, Snowie was wonderfully exhausted and slept...

    Mr Stanley Blue

I recall Snowie as a puppy used to throw a tantrum at around 5am if we didn’t get up. He would toss his bed across the bedroom! I don’t know if this is the correct advice, but we were told to ignore him, which we tried to. But we’d heave with laughter under the duvet at his tantrum antics...

    Poppy

What a beautiful picture! ❤️ I think like us, having a great day out is worth any pain later. And Snowie would agree, too: he needs an entire day, sometimes two, to recover from a great day out. But wow, by the smile on his face during the fun outing, it was it worth it!

Snowie’s paws are too sore for walking

We went to the market this morning. It has wood chips as the floor surface and they really hurt Snowie’s paws. So I put on his shoes—shame, his paws are more swollen than when we first got them and the shoes were very tight. He loves the market, all the kids and dogs and food. He’s so happy...

Snowie’s paws are too sore for walking

Thank you, I do believe they are helping! He is walking much better, but still runs away when his shoes come out. Even when just socks come out he moves away with speed. But I insist he puts on his socks (towelling baby socks) and I also apply Sudocrem between the pads and toes. Sometimes he...
