Yes the SBD had good results with it for about 2 years, but the 3rd round of annual jabs didn't work because her arthritis, I think, had progressed beyond the point where Cartrophen was effective anymore. She's now on Metacam and doing fine. Hopefully that will give her another couple of years...

I wouldn't go too mad on the diet. He's probably only marginally over his fighting weight looking at the pictures. Can you feel his ribs when you run your hand down his side?

Yes I mentioned it at the kennels so they will keep an eye on things. Her appetite is good, she's drinking normally, showing no signs of bloat now and is alert and taking interest so I think a blockage is unlikely but of course still possible.

To be honest I've never given it much thought except so far as avoiding cheap dog food. Lady has a mix of Burns "fillem up and stop them being fat" kibble and AATU 80% "jet propel them" kibble. When she was working she got 100% AATU kibble. She also has whatever is going that is left over...

Yes she's obviously much more comfortable. Mind you, she probably would have chased the partridge anyway but the general enthusiasm shone through. Hope it lasts. Vet thought it should give her a couple of years more comfort with luck.
