    What made you smile today?

Cassie at the vets for a check up and to get her prescription for metacam. It's a pleasure to take her to the vets. She was greeted with three dogs outside the vets and just took it all in her stride. It's so lovely hearing the vet tell you 'oh she's such a sweetheart' and being told she's...

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

Thank you so much for this extremely kind offer. I have ordered one and hopefully it will fit and do the job. Fingers crossed. I'm hoping Cassie won't have an issue with wearing it, as she has no problems with her harness. @Emily_Babbelhund , I did look at harnesses like that but I ruled them...

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

Right, I looked into making a lift/ harness, on going to look at how the orvis lift harness was made, I noticed a lovely code for £25 off if I spent £50 or over. Now the lift/harness is £49, so on treating Cupar to a new rope toy and with the delivery of £5, I have went ahead and purchased the...

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

Thank you for the vote of confidence and after seeing the sling, I had thought about making one but I'm worried that it may not be strong enough. I shall look into this further, I do like a challenge.

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

Can you leave the lifting harness on when going out to the toilet? This seems ideal for me to help Cassie get in the car.

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

Oh that looks ideal. How did you find the fit? Cassie is 22/23kg so at the bottom range of the large but I'm worried it would be too wide. Sorry but I had to laugh 'Ended up carrying 27kg of brown idiot up and down the ship..'

    How to lift/carry a 23kg labrador

I'm looking for recommendations for the correct way to lift a dog or a carry strap of some kind. For our 40th anniversary in January next year, we have booked to stay the weekend in our local 'big house'. It sleeps 13, there will be 12 adults staying. Every holiday in the UK my dogs come too...

    Shadow's reactivity log

Well done. That must be the most amazing feeling, having Shadow within range of another dog without a reaction. So pleased for you.

    What made you smile today?

My fifth grandchild was born today. 8lb 6oz. He's my daughters first baby a beautiful boy. I'm so happy I'm bursting and my eldest granddaughter took me to meet my newest grandson. She's nearly 20 years older than her cousin.

Dogs and the fear of fireworks (yes, it's nearly that time of year again!)

Cassie barks at certain fireworks. The fireworks that go bang don't bother her, it's the ones that swoosh that sets her off. Last year I tuned into a radio station that was playing classical music for dogs, closed all windows and curtains, kept her in the room with us and we had no problems...

    Maxx got attacked :(

I was in this camp for years, all small dogs were little yaps, however I am most definitely in this camp now. Having a reactive dog opens up your eyes to all dogs, as you question why your dog is reactive. No one wants the dog that snarls and barks at every dog it meets. It really doesn't...

    Emotions, learning and Animal Training

I watched all except the last one, I listened to that one while cooking. It was interesting and I listened to the last part which was better. The information would have been better written with the diagrams. I didn't see the point of video.

    Maxx got attacked :(

I feel for max as I know what can happen to a dog that gets bullied, Cupar goes on the offensive. However I do wonder at the owner of the other dog, is this a first? Could they be too shocked that it happened. I know the shame I felt when my dog reacted for the first time. I also don't agree...

    Harv has arthritis

Cassie is 14 and for a year now she has been on metacam. She had been diagnosed with arthritis when she was 10/11. I started her on yumove, I don't know whether it helped as within six months I looked into yumove plus to discover it could only be purchased at the vets, now it doesn't need a...

    Overexcited Oreo

Oh I really, really feel for you. I can't give you any advice on how to correct this behaviour, I do know that until you get proper help with this, is to avoid all off lead contact with new dogs. Keep up the contact with dogs you know she's happy with.

Benefits of Tumeric & Black Pepper?

Cassie stank until I found the ceylon cinnamon added to the mix and it disappeared.

    Shadow's reactivity log

That's a positive outlook for Shadow. I don't see the need for Shadow to become friends with other dogs, after all my aim for Cupar is just to have him be in the vicinity of other dogs and not react to them. Thanks again for sharing as this helps me to help Cupar.
