Mine too. I used the lock de-icer so I could lock up for work. Later in the evening, my son ordered pizza, and I had to give a really good shove on the storm door. It was frozen shut. I'll have to open it in a few minutes, so it can thaw enough for hubby to get in after work!

We're lucky here. The polar Vortex brought us to -6 today. Normally we're holed up in the house or shovelling snow this time of year. Jan-March is deep-freeze season and I'm not hibernating yet. Soon...but not yet I'm expecting the -22 to -30 any week now

Hello from me and Shamas in Canada!

I am not generally a fan of Dog parks...but I am in a position where the dog park is really the only place that I can let Shamas off-leash without worrying much about trouble. Even in my own yard, I have to worry about the neighbors letting their puppy out, and Shamas "going off" Shamas' issues...

So we had Dr Firth look at the nail today, and it's been diagnosed as a fungal infection of the nail bed. I'm to wash it twice daily with preoxide, followed by the blue stuff they gave me to wash Matt's cyst when it was drained. I can't pronounce it, but it's a strong wound cleanser. And...

So the nail we're in for today is not the first nail growing in wrong....it's the first nail breaking a second time. OOF! Dr Trina trimmed it back as much as Shamas would allow, but stopped when he got stressed out. She's of the opinion that the trauma of pushing the issue and filing the nail...

Well, we're back in again for another nail that came off yesterday. I had to trim it right back behind the break, which left it jagged, so we're meeting a new vet today to have it looked at. January 9th. 3 1/2 years in. Three and a half years it took. Shamas has recently begun going to the trails near a local dog park, to get him used to being around dogs. COVID has been good to him. He's made good progress, having learned that dogs coming towards him are not dogs coming AT him...

So the vet doesn't seem to think anything will help his nails, except cutting them more often. Since they grow unevenly, I may just set up biweekly trims at the local groomer for any nail that needs it. This is his worst one yet- They had to use a local aenesthetic before he'd let them touch...

Does anyone have any suggestions for brittle nails? Shamas has ANOTHER split nail, and we're off to the vet tommorrow to have it cut and filed back. Seems like it happens every 3-4 months. Anything I can feed him to help?

The fence is wood, but it's a classic privacy fence, with overlapping boards. You can see diagonally into the neighboring yard They have met, but only once. They were fine then- I think the fence is the issue. Shamas knows the dog is there, but can't reach it.
