    Doggy brags

My super sweet Stanley! While have a tea and cherry cake break during Mantrailing Pip (a lab x owned by our trainer) and Stanley were playing with Pips ball when another unknown dog came to interfere and Pip had a bit of a ‘set too’ with the other dog, Stanley took one look, decided Pip was...

    Confused about Crate Size

We used a small puppy size crate for Stanley but he out grew it quite quickly and then a big 42inch crate. I didn’t make the transition go well with Stanley and he struggled to settle in the bigger crate at night. The big crate is the one we used for our old dog Homer who was quite big and long...

Biting flank and base of tail

I’m not sure what to suggest about biting the case of her tail. I am concerned that you mention she throws up her kibble from time to time. Have you tried soaking it a few minutes in warm water to soften it and smaller meals more often. She may need quiet rest after eating, food can take quite a...

    New collar and lead

Stanley needs a new collar and lead Hubby has found a red dingo one -dog-collar-plain-turquoise-dc-zz-tq. I think it looks thin - not padded and the lead is quite short. So I need to suggest an alternative one. Any suggestions.

    UTI

Try giving her some probiotics. They may help balance good bacteria which may prevent bad bacteria causing infection.

    Stanley is one!

It’s Stanley’s first birthday today. He had a lovely day going for a walk in Richmond Park where he was very good. Great recall and didn’t disgrace himself with chafing after other dogs or deer. Yesterday he had a great day Mantrailing.

    Chewing everything

Its often when he thinks he's not getting enough attention. And also when he knows I'm near but not near enough like in the bathroom. There are certain oppertunistic favourites like Hubby's crocs. And also oppertunistic. There are times it may be because he's hungry or board and wants a walk. I...

    Chewing everything

Stanley will be one years old next week and still a big chewer. Chews on everything and needs to be watched all the time. He’s chewed up the hall carpet outside the bathroom while I quickly brush my teeth. I’ve been away this week and so hubby has had to watch him. I’ve just had a message to say...

    Doggy brags

Yesterday was a day of two halves. In the morning he was a complete nightmare on his walk and left all sense and his ears at home. In the evening we went for a short walk and met an elderly lady who often sits on a bench by the river. We stopped to chat and Stanley sat next to her ever so good...

    Nail trimming

I sneakily do one of two at a time when he’s really sleepy. I snipped one of Stanley’s a bit short and it bled quite a bit. Stan flinched but wasn’t put off completely. If I’d done that to Homer I’d never have been able to get the clippers anywhere near him.

    What made you smile today?

There were a few bangs on our dusk walk yeaterday and Stanley didn't even notice - too busy sniffing or ignoring me.

    Doggy brags

Stanley is super chilled. He'd let anyone in as long as he could slobber them with kisses. He even let a 6 month Airedale visit in the house without any hint of being protective of his home and people.

    Challenging night

I changed Stanley to Millie Wolf heart when he was about 5 month old as everything else gave hom squishy/runny poops. I think it might have been the riverside mix. I am now trying out some different flavours. I don't think it helped much with his sleeping apart from the fact that as his poops...

    Challenging night

I feel your frustration and lack of sleep. Any consolation, we had a horrible time trying to get Stanly to sleep through the night in his crate. I think I noted most of it on Stanly's thread (Mr Stanley Blue). He started off well but then when he upgraded to a bigger grate it all went wrong and...

    Snowie

If the lower dose of Prednisone works then that sounds like a good solution. SLeep - what's a bit of lost sleep when looking ofter an older dog or a younger dog that still needs to come up for cuddles at 2am. All dogs are so different. There two other dogs locally who were almost the exact...
