An update: in addition to the wild boar, Chewie is fine with fish and kangaroo. This is really good as fish is one of his favourite things in the whole world and fish skins/sprats are the best ever recall treat. We have yet to try beef, having excluded chicken and eggs.
He has also had a hot spot treated with antibiotics which has recovered well, and no real gut side effects. The scab fell off in OH's hand today.
Of course he had to bring it over to show me.

I’m experiencing approval and disgust in equal measure 
We had Chewie's annual vet check and kennel cough and lepto boosters today. All was very well- apparently he is in ideal body condition (25kg) and his teeth are perfect. The venison ears he gets regularly seem to be working a treat and playing nicely with his gut.
The only downside was that the vet usually hands out chicken treats and he couldn't have any... I couldn't go in with him so I couldn't even take my usual salmon skins for him. Oh well. The vet staff all adore "our little Chewie."

Doesn’t she know her job description includes treat dispense. How rude to keep a customer waiting.
I’ll be sure to let her know that is her main function!!
Actually, she is very generous with the treats. Stream feeds Snowie while she’s chatting to us. I’m sure he literally eats her profits!

Joy won't accept treats from any of the vet staff. She's Veryvery polite but she does Not Trust Them, not one little bit! I have to give her the treats if she's going to get any , which she makes sure she does by pawing at me relentlessly whilst casting baleful glances at the treats jar. She rather has me wrapped round her dainty little paw....
