A traumatic morning.

Oh the poor little love. Big hugs, (and gentle snuffles for GGJ from Fergus). It’s unconsionable that the man had the gall to shout that his dog is ok, what planet are people on? I hope he gets prosecuted or whatever is possible. Calm evening in front of the fireinametalbox awaits.x

I'm just reading this @Candy and am so sorry this happened to you. Definitely you and Joy have that wine and Kong and whatever else you need to cocoon yourself tonight. The man with the dog walking away is icing on the cake. I am grateful you had the workers there to back you up and lend some aid and moral support. You had an example of bad humanity and good humanity all the in same incident. Sending you and GGJ lots of hugs and Carbon besitos.

I think it was someone on here (maybe Emily? @Emily_Babbelhund ) who told me I was going to have to get over it as I was just making the situation worse...
No, not me. Maybe someone here who is a little more overtly tough love? 😏 Brogan was attacked a couple times, luckily not as badly as poor Joy, and what I remember most is that HE got over it super quickly and I was the one who didn't want to go out and for a good while looked at all situations with unknown dogs as opportunities for it to happen all over again. So in that way it could make the situation worse if the human holds on to the trauma and the dog is ready to let it go but is influenced by the anxiety of their human. I know not all dogs get over these things quickly, just that between Brogan and I, the incidents had a longer term affect on me than him.

I am in total shock for you, poor, poor Good Girl Joy. I am beyond relief that you had some amazing guys come to help.

I really hope you can both have a quiet and gentle evening when she is home. Take care xx

This is so awful, poor you and poor little Joy. I hope the police take it seriously, that man is obviously in complete denial about how dangerous his dog is. So sorry for you both, and hope that Joy is able to get over it quickly.

I’m just sickened reading this, and can’t imagine how traumatic it was for both of you. I’m so sorry this happened. Have nice healing cuddles when you get home. I’ll be anxiously following your thread to se how she’s doing. ❤❤

Oh @Candy, this is so appalling, I have tears in my eyes for you both :'( It's quite literally shocking.

Cassie's been attacked twice whilst just minding her own business and doing nothing wrong and it's heartbreaking to see the pyschological effect even though there was no physical damage. Heaven knows she has gone rushing in where angels fear to tread far too often, but it never happened then.

Poor darling Joy. I will be thinking of you this evening xx

I would also speak to the dog warden as they will have something to say about it being off lead and also may already know the dog. Give her a big hug from me and the boys
I tried that but apparently we no longer have dog wardens. The police officer who I was speaking to at the time ( not the lovely one who's now dealing with it all), when I said that I was now worried about taking my dog out incase it happened again and asked what she would suggest, said perhaps I could take a picture of them and send it to the police!:wtf::facepalm::angry: I informed her that I felt that I could be putting myself at risk if I did that. Frightening advice, can't have been an experienced officer.

Hell, just catching up. That is horrendous @Candy , your poor little girl.

Sadly there are some very inexperienced PCs out there with 'ideal' reactions but absolutely no idea of how things really are. You know what to do and how to report this - as you have done. You can't listen to those who have no idea.

Hopefully, your poor little girl will recover over night and be back to her precious self in the morning. Hugs to you both

Thankyou everyone for your kind wishes. Joy is home safe, a bit subdued, probably partly to do with the GA but otherwise OK I think. The woman police officer who eventually dealt with us was a dog owner herself and absolutely lovely. They will be asking to check the CCTV at the pub that we were walking past when it happened and will inform me of the outcome. She asked if I would be prepared to go to Court and I said that if that's what it takes to stop it happening again then Yes. The vets have also all been brilliant, Chris, the vet who knows Joy best told the Police that their name for Joy at the surgery is 'Gentle Joy' and that his worry was if a dog would attack a dog like her then it could attack anyone. We're cosy by the Fireinametalbox now and chilling with Kong and wine.

I’m so sorry to hear this about your lovely Joy, such an awful thing to happen. Hopefully the cctv will identify the man, shame about not having dog wardens. So glad those scaffolders came to your aid.
Thinking of you and Joy  .

Oh bless your darling lamb , I`m so pleased that you are pursuing this Candy , for Joys sake and anyone else plus other dogs who could come upon this vile man with his dangerous dog . I hope you can relax a little now that she is home again , poor poor love xxxxxxxxxx

I’m so sorry this happened to you.

Thank goodness for the scaffolding men. What true gents!

Hope you’re ok and wishing GGJ a speedy recovery. The poor little baby, but I know she’s in the best hands 🥰
