A week at the coast

Lovely photos Alison, I thought of you on Thursday and it was such a perfect day weather wise, it must have been lovely there.
Glad you had a nice break, looks like Red certainly did :smiledog:

If you recommend the property you should maybe pop it on the doggy holiday thread?
Certainly Norfolk advertised itself as very dog friendly.
Norfolk is very very dog friendly.

This is where we stayed. Sea Palling itself is ok (it must get very busy in the summer and I don;t think I’d like I then) but the beach is just fabulous and we loved this little cottage. It’s a 2 minute walk from the beach. The owner is really lovely - very very helpful and communication with her has been excellent. Dogs are welcome.

Really wonderful photos - I love seals, I'd go for that alone but everything else is beautiful too. It's also a huge plus how dog-friendly it sounds. I may be hunting for something come next May and will definitely add Norfolk to the list.

That site shows some great photos of Sea Palling beach. There were no restrictions whilst we were there but I think part of the beach is in summer. However, there is such a large area there and all the other Norfolk beaches - you’d be spoilt for choice @Emily_Babbelhund.

If anyone is interested in Rocket House then best to keep tabs on the bookings. I booked back in June and was lucky to get the week I wanted in November. She will be releasing her 2021 availability soon and I suspect a lot of dates will have already been booked. A lot of people seem to rebook and I can understand why.

Slight diversion here- but I was lying awake one night last week thinking about all the holiday cottages we had booked with Monty in mind, and with some minor issues, they had all been pretty safe. Flipping back through them, only one of the eight would now be suitable for us, as Bear would be able to break out of seven of them. The only suitable one would be the one in Crantock, Cornwall, where we met you and Carbon for the first time @Emily_Babbelhund - though that turned out to be rubbish for Monty as he wouldn't wee or poo on the slabbed patio - at all.

This is going to be extremely limiting for future bookings!

That will probably change as he gets older, don't you think?
When will he stop jumping four foot gates? At the moment he's still on an upward-jumping trajectory. He's aiming for clearing me at standing height by Christmas  .

That house in Crantock seemed very nice plus close to such a great beach.
It was, though the road was busier than I thought and I objected to 7am / 10pm wee walks in my pyjamas. But I loved the place, and would definitely go back there, but probably not to that property, although it was perfect inside.

That site is really useful. If @Emily_Babbelhund or others are planning holidays in Norfolk, it might be worth pointing out that not all the beaches are sandy - there is a stretch of coast where they are more rocky/shingle. And others are quite tide dependent. There are miles and miles of dog-friendly sandy beaches but you do need to pick the right ones!

Ha, sorry I didn't mean to sound sarky, I just think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
You didn't sound snarky, you sounded factual. What a worry when you have to always consider whether Bear will make a run for it.

"Escape artist" is a tough one. I've heard many a wild tale of true doggie pros - @snowbunny can probably attest that Podencos are particularly famous in Spanish shelters for making a run for it - but have been very lucky not to have had any of my own. My only real jumper was @Aitch 's Toby - but while he could jump onto kitchen counters, he never even tried to climb the fence in the back garden, thank goodness.

Rock or sand, just very nice how many are dog-friendly, even year-round. The two month stint in Brittany has really taught me to appreciate (even more) what a dog-friendly country the UK is.

Yep, Pods are well-known for being escapers. They climb well and can also jump ridiculous heights from standing. The Pods in the shelter here are always put in the kennels with a roof to prevent them escaping - but many will still try!
