It was cooler when we took the dogs out today. That didn't stop Alex ( we have gone back to his original name. Perhaps one of the lovely mods could change the name of this thread for me?) jumping into the stream with the other dogs.

Alex is a very chilled little person most of time, it seems. We are, however, having to manage his play. He bites! I've started treating him as I would a puppy and am teaching him that play stops if he bites. My arms are pretty bruised from his biting at the moment but he is getting the idea now, I hope.
He seems to prefer women to men and just follows me everywhere. Everything seems very new to him in ways I hadn't thought about. Stairs were his first problem. I had to get the other dogs to run up and down them and then coax him up them with cheese. He has now gotten used to them and flies up and down them.

Another thing we are working on with him is resource guarding. He only growls and doesn't snap but with this many dogs and a couple of cats we can't have anyone resource guarding.
He is fine with the cats but when one of them challenged him by arching his back and hissing at him Alex turned into a quivering wreck. He was very scared. I immediately started treating him with cheese and bits of ham and he walked away from the cat. I think the cat was bit miffed that he didn't put up a fight!

I have never seen a dog slot in so quickly. He is an absolute Joy!
Again, my thanks to the miraculous Fiona and J. They had a hellish journey and still came through it with patience and love for my boy. I feel honoured to have met them.
