Angel. Born June 30th.

Shamas likes the puppy?, but she's a bit much for him. She cries a lot.

We keep them 5 feet or more apart nearly all the time so that he doesn't feel the need to tell her to get away. He's growled a few times. Nipped once. She screamed blue murder but was not harmed in the least....she'd charged his face and he took offense.

I told the kids to keep her leashed any time she's not contained so she can't do it again.

I've moved his food to the front hall because he wasn't finding it in the back room. The puppy is carried past it. No walking near the food.

Yesterday he tried to steal her bag of food so I had to buy a new one because it was dumped all over the floor.

We will bring in the behaviour therapist as soon as we secure the money. It's good 700 dollars. Won't take too long....

We are making a point to praise him any time he shows relaxed language around her. And taking him for walks and car rides to get him breaks from her.

I brought home a box today for when we put her down In the livingroom. I just don't see the point paying for a playpen for a dog that'll quickly outgrow it...a coworker of mine is going to see if he can get me a big watermelon box from Costco....you know the display boxes? That aughta contain her lol

The one I got today is 2x2feet. While we sat for a show, we taught 'sit' every time she put her bum on the floor she got a treat. She's learning to come with her person when called too.

She's a definite lap dog lol. Likes to sleep with momma on the couch20210808_213118.jpg

So the search for a behavioralist is discouraging...so far it looks like 650per dog

One I found that will come to the house was ruled out by the puppy's owner on account of being a trainer/entertainer(he advertises his products more than his services). If she can't take him seriously, she's not hiring him.

Pawsitively looks good, but we'd have to go there. I don't mind going to training...but I wonder if I'm getting my money's worth when the issues are in the house and front yard? Last time I went to the trainer for Shamas' dog fears, and the work didn't translate to real world. the key thing he took out of that was that dogs behind fences are still scary but ok, and specific places can be considered safe.

Angel's had a little growth spurt and gotten more active. This morning she tried to entice Shamas to play. He's not sure about being growled at by half-pint! He jumped back and barked at her a few times, all the while looking at me to deal with it. He'd tolerated her advances up to that point because he knew I had a solid hand on her harness, and he was free to leave. SO he was rolling around on the bed, getting petting, and occasionally the puppy would reach a paw/tail and give him a lick. Only when she went for his face did he utter a warning. No faces, Angel. No bellies either

She's started having accidents...often. I think she gets so distracted she just stops and goes so she can play again. Taught her to use pee pads in her room. I think it's partly our fault too--the first couple of days, someone took her out every 1/2 hour-45 minutes. now it's closer to every hour. I think I need to print a puppy schedule for the whole family

It's hard for me too because I keep having to remind myself that she's showing solid corso/dane traits. Dad looks like a very skinny corso.

She's got good muscle tone already and is getting lanky with the growth over the last week

Insofar as socializing goes...its limited.

She's not reacted to the storm.
The bike was interesting. She sat down and watched it
The dog calmly walking by didn't warrant her attention
Nervous behavior at barking dogs outside of her view. She stopped everything and went to the door, like Shamas does.
She's barking at the cat. Wants to play but he doesn't.
Jumped, but quickly recovered when I dropped something that made a loud noise.

I'm happy so far. I have us on a wait list for a reactive dog boot camp, so if she does develop issues she can join Shamas in the class. They only run 1-2/year and with only 4 dogs per class so she'll be old enough by the time they run one.

Biggest issue right now is exercise....she REALLY wants to explore past her designated area but is not allowed until she's vaccinated. And the vet won't vaccinate until 8 weeks

August 24th

I'm going to see on Monday what they say.....I have her actual birthdate and it's a few days before I thought....june 27. I figure she's about 10lbs now? She's bigger than 9lb Little Helen, not quite as big as 12lb Midnight20210814_185901.jpg

She's adorable, such beautiful colouring and sturdy long legs.

But I have to say...whoever let a 7 week old puppy on what looks like a pristine white bare bed mattress is a very brave soul. Hold onto that wee, Angel, you can do it! 😂
Yeah, I told them to keep her off the bed because I dont have a cover yet....but as she was there, I snapped a shot.

In the end it was either shamas or Matt that ruined it. Someone puked on it while I was at work today.

In better news, Matt the Cat let Angel meet her today. He allowed tentative advances, and face-licks. But drew the line at ear and tail nipping. And no, he doesn't want to play even if she DID play-bow before barking at him. Annoying puppy-thing:cwl:

Updated pics :)

9 weeks
Angel is biting furniture and hands. I tried vinager to no avail. Pick up a bitter product designed to to spray on furniture and even on bandages and hot spots.

She's people friendly, if they drop to her level

Doesn't like barking dogs...either barks back or runs inside

We only walk her on our street, so she's not having contact with dogs other than shamas yet. My dad wanted to bring his two very but I told him to wait. Sept 13 she gets her next shots.

The first two pics are her reaction to barking dogs20210830_194208.jpg20210830_194207.jpg20210830_194159.jpg20210830_194122.jpg20210830_194114.jpg20210830_194055.jpg

So I found out why Angel wasn't putting on bulk as I expected...she was full of worms. Got that treated, and she's filling out now.
we had to cover the patch of sand in the yard from where we had a pool last year because she keeps digging in it and was investing some. She LOVES the yard..all 100+feet of it. Spends a few hours a day zooming around.

she's a bit of a land shark...working on that. Suggestions welcome.

She now fits a size small harness, having outgrown the first one I bought20210903_184432.jpg
