The breeder is using a Walmart puppy food, at a $12/bag budget. The ingredients look acceptable but it has a long list, and lots of added supplements.I just love the OEM colouring on Angel and many of the other pups. Cute as a button.
My only advice regarding food is to remember that this is a giant breed. Feeding for slow growth is important for proper joint development and longevity. A giant breed like a mastiff (or mastiff mix in Angel's case) can take 3 years to get to their full height and weight. So Angel may need quite a bit less or different food than other smaller dogs you've raised, even if that seems counter-intuitive. I'm well out of that scene so can't recommend any resources, but you might want to have a look around for forums, breed clubs, etc. that specialise in the giant breeds like OEMs, Rottweilers, and other kinds of mastiffs.
Or maybe Angel just has OEM colouring and is going to be "Labrador-sized"...? In which case, feel free to ignore me entirely.![]()
I'll be looking for multiple protein sources, and fewer ingredients. With a per bag budget of $50-80 that's what we spend on Shamas.
Based on parents, pups are expected to be 90ish lbs. Buddy is more Dane in shape and stands at my hip, at 90lbs. Sierra is about my knee, and 70
