Another bad Injury!

Who does the land along to?

Write to the landowner and explain what has happened and how often it has happened and give details about the severity of the injuries. A polite letter simply informing them may make them aware that there is broken glass in the area that needs to be cleared up as it could cause harm to others as well as children and wildlife.

Just heart-breaking. She is such a lovely gentle girl, it really isn't right that this has happened. Can't begin to tell you how sorry we all are - me, P and of course the Pongster. Big hugs to you and your gorgeous girl.
:'( :'( :'(

And as for the toerag that dropped the glass.... :punch: :dogpoo:

Hope she feels better soon, I expect it is the anaesthesia which is making her look so sad and I expect it hurts as well. My GSP cut all four paws at different times, like a bloodbath at the vets! I angrily wrote a letter to the local paper in reply to people complaining about dog poo, what about the glass and tin left behind by humans who should know better!

The land belongs to the local council and I have written to them before about issues in this location. It is often used as a cut through by young people and adults to the shops / pub etc. It’s 5 fields together with a lovely stream running through it, with 2 bridges where dogs can go in. Unfortunately it is spoiled by stupid people who just don’t care.
Harley’s had some dinner and has gone back to sleep 😴. She definitely getting lots of cuddles x

Poor Harley, can't believe she's had another injury.

I know they are a pain to put on and off, but how about sticking boots on her for walks in that park? It would be such a shame if she couldn't see all her dog friends and have romps there any more.

Poor little girl. Hope she is feeling better today and so are you. Not nice at all.

Big and little licks for her from V amd H.

How's Harley feeling today? Probably still a bit miserable x
She’s a bit up and down. We’ve been on 2 short lead walks and done some calm training sessions at home. She was desperate to run around on our second walk, but we kept her on lead and the walk only 15 mins with lots of sniff stops. Because the injury is directly on the bottom of her paw, I don’t think she feels it so much when walking, but I’m very wary of her tearing the stitches.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how often I can take her for 10-15 min sniffy walks?

When Merlin hurt his foot last summer, I took him out for several short walks a day - after the first couple of days probably three or four times. I'd also put him in the car and drive him somewhere where there was stuff going on, where we could sit and watch the world go by. I did find he tired quickly and easily, but he was always really thrilled to be able to get out and about.

When Joy was limping and could only have short on lead walks last year I found it was best to go to places where she wouldn't expect to go off lead, so we stuck to roads and pavements, exploring places we hadn't walked to before, nearby villages, fields with animals in. Now that she has discovered the joys of rail travel I'd probably take her somewhere new by train, should the situation arise again.

Thanks Karen & Candy. She’s had 2 short walks so far today and some friends have come round, so that tired her out. We’ve stuck to roads and avoided the field which was a good idea as she walked lovely and done lots of sniffing.
I think the pain has hit her a bit more today as she’s not weight bearing so much. Bandage change and check up tomorrow.
