Beautiful Bella

Bella Boo didn’t have a great day today. She started out full of beans but as I was getting them ready for our morning walk, she became very distressed, spinning to reach her bum, which was still in its overnight nappy. I got her outside to remove it and she’d just had a little bit of a squit and so I figured it was just that that was upsetting her. We set off on our walk, but she wasn’t right. She had a couple of ver small soft pops, but wasn’t happy at all. She kept running up to me and sitting trembling, and then she’d hide under a bush. So I took her back home and left her in the garden with J while I walked the Labs.
She was quite poofy at the back end, partly from the swelling I’m sure, but I think part of the issue is that she’s getting backed up inside because she doesn’t have the muscle control at the end to get stuff out now that the hole is so much smaller.
I’ve taken it upon myself to increase her laxative a little to give a little more of a helping hand in these first few day and see how that goes.

Poor Bella. Is she on pain meds? Could she be cramping up? When Snowie was constipated and also trembling, the only relief was from Buscopan (before he was surgically unblocked). Although I guess you want to increase the peristaltic action. Not easy. xxx

We had a trip to the emergency vet this morning - because these things ALWAYS happen out of hours, right?!
She couldn’t poo at all this morning and her poor bot was hugely distended. She was obviously in pain. So, off to the vet who removed one of her stitches and a hard little nugget of poo that was blocking everything. Bella then had a good shake and covered two vets, J, and the entire surgery in poo 😂
She was like a miniature hippo!

An anti-inflammatory shot and an appointment for tomorrow, then home. I had J drop us a few hundred metres from the house and, lo and behold, a good poo followed. She’s now sleeping contentedly in the sun. She needs a shower, but I think she’s had plenty of trauma already this morning, so that can wait a few hours!

Thanks for asking, @jazzmynn. Unfortunately, the surgery failed, and the prolapse has recurred. She's been into the vet seven times since Easter Monday (!) and is back for another review this coming Monday, to make a plan of next action.

That said, she's totally happy in herself and as crazy as always. On Saturday I took her for a photo shoot at a new location, and she enjoyed strutting her stuff for the camera! She was looking a bit like a cloud, so since then I've attacked her with a stripping comb and she's now half the size she was in the photo!
