Can’t catch a break

Well she is in the best place. I know you are worrying and are missing her, but try and get some sleep. She will need you when she gets home

Thanks everyone...just came home from work and took a nap. OH called in for an update on Quinn and she’s still sleeping but will go for a little walk once she’s alert. This hospital does allow visitation but I’m not sure about in the ICU. It may stress her out to have us go and leave without her :(

A couple positives. The instructor from our scent class has offered to come over and do some private work once Quinn is recovered but not able to resume walks to keep her mind working. I think that might work well. Weather is calling for a deep freeze next week and I will be able to stay in and cuddle a skinny black lab.

Nice that the instructor has offered to come over. How kind!

I personally would visit her in the hospital. You are the best person to know her condition and will be able to see if she’s improving or needs attention. Also, I’d imagine she’d be unsettled in a strange place, and having you there will be reassuring. It is difficult and I know you want to do what’s best for her. You are the best person to decide that!

Latest update: Quinn has no appetite, likely because she is on a fairly high dose of pain meds. There is quite a bit of fluid being drained, which is being looked at under microscope several times a day to check for further infection. It's not uncommon to have a lot of fluid the first 24 hours. The next steps is to reduce pain meds and try and get her to eat; we can visit and also bring foods to try and encourage eating. If not, she will have to get a tube up her nose to ensure she is getting nutrition. We are planning to visit tonight if we can find a time that works for the vet rounds, if not tomorrow. Earliest discharge if all goes well is now Sunday.
They report she has been wagging her tail - so she must like someone there!

Oh, sweetheart. Poor little Quinn - she must be feeling truly stoned. She'll be happy to see you, and maybe that might remind her what food is for. But it is all upwards from here....and you will have her home soon. Hang in there.

If you gently warm the food, that will often get them to eat. We used to suggest Brands Essence but I don't think they make it anymore. Sometimes baby food tempts them. Hope Quinn can come home on Sunday.
