Dog fur everywhere!

Homer is molting!
He hasn't had a molt as big as this for years. His fur is everywhere. Having an extra layer of fur on all our blankets might be cosy for us but we will be having visitors staying with us and I'd like to attempt to get rid of at least some of his fur on the blankets. I washed them, although they smell cleaner they are still covered in fur. Has anyone used fur catchers in the washing machine with any positive results?

We’ve got a bag like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ezee-Paws-...672253153&sprefix=dog+hair+bags,aps,88&sr=8-3
That we use for putting really hairy stuff in before washing, it catches the hair but whatever’s in it doesn’t wash as well (understandably!) so sometimes needs an extra rinse. Those balls look interesting but maybe would get clagged up very quickly? Then you clean the balls I guess? Good luck whatever you try!

I tried one kind of fur catcher (not the ones you are looking at) and it was useless. I use a ‘horse’ bag similar to @HAH’s to wash all Red’s towels which protects my washing machine.

Best thing is tumble drying - the hair gets trapped in the lint ‘cage’. Unfortunately not everything can be tumble dried - I use Sticky Mitts from Lakeland or a lint roller to get the worst off.

Red had a massive hair moult a few months ago which lasted weeks. Fortunately it’s slowed right down but daily vacuuming and dehairing clothes still has to be done. I work hard at getting hair off everything

Bounce now makes dryer sheets for pet hair. They're about twice the size and thickness of regular sheets.

I did buy some of the velcro ball things...but they became cat toys lol. Canadian Tire sells them. I can't recall if they were useful or not- I only used them acouple of time

Not sure if it’s available on Amazon UK, but a goofy thing called a “Chom Chom” has changed my life. Thought it ridiculously overpriced but tried it anyway based on reviews and now would happily pay 2-3 times more because the goofy little thing works.

Darn, just checked and out of stock in the UK, but this looks very similar:

Thanks,
The Chom chom looks like a simialr principle to the balls. A bit like the rough side of velcro.
It's weird because there's nothing sticky or rough. Just some kind of soft looped fabric and short rubber paddle wheels on a cylinder. You roll it over fabric in a back and forth motion (it makes a funny sound like "chom chom" ergo the name) and it picks up every hair plus any fuzz you can't even see and it all goes into the handle. Open the handle, take out the fuzz and hair and voila - surface completely de-dogged.

It's made a huge difference on my current trip: because I'm on foot with a single backpack, I couldn't take a full set of duvet cover, bottom sheet, pillow cases, etc like I usually do. Instead I have one single sheet but in reality didn't even need that because the Chom Chom picks up every single piece of dog hair with much less sweat, time, and waste (before I used a rubber hair squeegee plus lint rollers/duct tape - even sometimes tweezers!). Because Carbon sleeps under the covers with me and I leave rental apartments absolutely pristine including the bedding, having something like this really saves me a ton of work. And frankly it's nice starting the night in sheets with zero dog hair. I love my Señor but that stuff can be itchy!

I know it sounds like they are paying me, but it's made my life so much easier, so I am forcing my Chom Chom love on the world. 😂
