Doggy brags

I had a Lab who would chase horses on the common, one day he did, so my friend caught hold of him and said 'if you want to chase horses, then chase them' and took him toward a tethered pony, "no, no' he said as she made him go towards the pony and he never, ever chase a. horse again!

Very rarely do I have a brag but this morning it happend! We were next to the pond and the pathway to it is narrow and enclosed which can cause some handbags at dawn situations with Hunter. Stupid walking there but it was quiet and is sheltered from the rain. A jogger came around the corner with a dog and Hunter stalked to go towards them. So I shouted ready steady and he turned and came back to me:shock: so I could clip his lead on and with 'go' got a massive jerky treat. Then he totally ignored them. Just focused on me! I am so pleased we did the 3 week recall challenge as it has given us a fresh approach to fun training.

Brilliant :clap::clap:

Cassie too is love love loving Ready, Steady , Go game. She loves them all, but this one was new to us and it's great -- she practically trembles with excitement as soon as I say "Reeaadee ....":laughdog:

Bear's been a little star today. My mum, brother, SIL and nephew came over for an afternoon in the garden, the first time here since Christmas I think that Bear has dealt with that many people in the house. He had a bonkers five minutes when they arrived, I kept him on lead, but then he calmed down quicker than he ever has before, didn't try and steal the food we had on our laps, and only jumped on my mom's head once when she was singing at him in a high pitched voice and we told her not to because it made him excited. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The good long early morning walk and the fact it was warm all day may have helped him to be calmer, but I do see a glimpse of a very slightly more grown up dog, potentially, in the future, maybe 😂

Joy can't fit two balls in her mouth. She's just too small. Her friend Tess can and Joy watches this with admiration and respect and maybe a touch of envy, but she's just too small. Today we set off on an early towpath walk, before all the cyclists and runners were out. We went to the ball game field and had ball games. Joy carried her yellow ball as we trotted for home. Then she wasn't there. I called her and she came running to me and dropped a ball at my feet. It wasn't the yellow ball, it was blue and red. I said 'Clever girl! Where did you find that?' She looked back the way we'd come and nudged me with her nose. I said 'What? Where is it? Find it!' She picked up the blue and red ball and retraced her steps with me following. We came across the yellow ball. She put the blue and red ball down, nudged me with her nose again and gave me a Hard Stare. I picked up the blue and red ball and put it in my pocket. She picked up the yellow ball and we trotted home together very happily.
I love how clearly and cleverly she communicates with me, it makes our days such fun. :heart:

Today Kipper had a visit to the vet as he has a slightly gunky eye; I've been applying teabags since we noticed it on Friday, but it wasn't improving so J took him in this afternoon.

When they got back, he proudly told me that Kipper had been awarded 'Dog of the Day' by the vet, because not only had he sat like a good boy to have his eye examined and dye dropped in without needing any assistance, but he also didn't pull her across the car park on the way in and out of the surgery!:angel: (apparently she has a lab that would definitely have pulled:pull:). We're both terribly proud, and Kipper has had extra fish cubes to celebrate.
