Doggy brags

she is making good choices at coming in herself if she hears something
I just have to mention Red again and her growing self control to the snarling dogs in the garden behind us. A year ago I was so despondent about the fence issues with our neighbour at the back and the fact that Red reacted every time we were out there to her dogs. The whole situation really got me down (F too - he’s usually very upbeat - but it affected him too).
Whilst I still have lingering issues with the neighbour, I have been helped enormously by Red’s good responses to the noises that frighten her. A couple of times, she’s been caught off guard and rushed barking to the fence. However, now when she startles at the noises and her hackles start to rise, she looks to us and visibly relaxes as we talk gently to her. I never thought we’d be able to overcome this problem but I am so pleased she trusts enough to look to us first

Well done Hunter and @Loraseal !

I have been s.l.o.w.l.y building an emergency recall word for a few months now. It is COOOEEEEEE three times at the top of my lungs and so far it works perfectly. He runs back like a shot. However I haven't yet tried it when he is truly distracted (too scared to poison it like we have done with his name, with 'come come' and the whistle)

While Iver was being a good boy, Maisy, for the very first time, chased a deer across the field. She has always watched them and left them but this morning I was slow and the sun was in my eyes so she saw it before me and she decided to go for it.

However, at the end of the field I called her and she came straight back, leaving the deer to then be chased by a friend of hers (who did not come back).

I suspect she came back because once it ran into the long grass and she lost sight of it, it was officially gone in her doggy mind!
