Doggy brags

I took Chewie out for his morning walk and decided to let him off lead at the oval even though Parkrun was finishing... At the oval.

He was good as gold. Played a bit with his ball (but not really because it was WET and COLD) and we did some recalls.

There were maybe 100 people there and he didn't bother anyone. :)

So proud of my girl. Many of you are aware of our fence issues at the bottom of the garden and the snarling dogs behind them. This year Red has become very reactive to not just them but any noise in the garden. We’ve been working hard at teaching her not to react. For the first time I really watched her control her behaviour - she made the decision as she was about to go over the threshold to stop herself….and she did. So proud of her. She got a huge fuss and treats from me and F was delighted when I told him so she got a second well done fuss. I suspect we still have a long way to go but for now I’ll settle for that
This girl just makes my heart melt. The last few days, we’ve had the doors to the garden open and Red has been out there, often on her own. The photo I attach is taken off one of the cameras and I’m in a different part of the house so to all intents and purposes she’s on her own. Yesterday I was out there gardening and she was with me. I actually felt relatively at ease for the first time in absolutely ages. Noises that would have triggered a reaction from her, have had little or no effect and she is making good choices at coming in herself if she hears something.

The snarling dogs do seem to spend less time in their garden at the moment which is a bonus for us. However, I have been out there without Red and heard the most awful noises from them which I just don’t understand - I think they are treated badly but I have no proof.

For now though, she’s doing really well - she does like a quiet life so maybe she can filter out noises that used to affect her a lot.

Today we went for lunch with the in-laws. At a pub, sat outside but in a sort of gazebo area (not my choice) - it was very warm and on a bit of a walkway, with people passing by. It was a fairly stressful affair anyway as the family are tricky, and we haven’t been to many busy spaces with Kipper for that length of time. He was exceptional; he got lots of attention and said hello to people who passed by, the in-laws fussed him and then he settled by my feet for an hour and a half while we had lunch. We were so proud of him, it was a big ask and he was just brilliant.

GoodBoyKipper! Very well done indeed! It's lovely when our dogs cope so well with situations that we fear they may struggle with, and I think that their calm behaviour can sometimes help around 'tricky ' relatives as well. You are rightly proud of him. :highfive:

Well done Kipper:heart: They are just amazing aren't they?? X

I actually have a brag about Hunter. Yesterday after his little swim in the lake, we did an extra small loop back to the car as the weather was nice and Hunter was walking good and having a wonderful time. As we loop around a corner, we see a picnic group(at least 20!) about 20 m away sat under a huge yew tree. Crikey:sweat: I had visions of people and food flying in the air like skittles. Hunter takes a quick norty backward glance at OH and whoosh..... a 30 kg adrenaline food junkie Labrador is shooting full speed .......destination PICNIC! OH shouts Hunter...nada .....I shout the magic word.... READY......and Hunter does a massive 180 degree turn back to me, I say STEADY and with GO he gets his mini fish jerky treat! The picnic group shouted what a good boy!! I was so proud of him :inlove:
Thank you @Beanwood for the recall link with connect with your dog. I
