Doggy brags

I was so proud of our boy this morning at Golitha . Nelly stayed with Paul , she hates getting wet but the big lad cares not a jot . Walking along , him straying into the hinterland from time to time , we are approached by a couple with four small dogs , I wasnt worried at first as Reubs is used to Nelly and other small friends . However , these did not have her placid nature, they mobbed him and not in a friendly manner either, all hackles up and growling , I shouted at them , the owners seemed oblivious . Reubens hair did come up along his back but the look he gave them was priceless , a real disdain if ever I saw it ! I walked on and called him , he came straight to me and got two sea biscuits for his patience and tolerance in the face of adversity , he glanced back at them just the once , a filthy glare , then wagged his tail and we carried on x

I'm feeling quite chuffed -- I hope I'm not bragging to soon!

I've always struggled to prevent Cassie running over to other dogs, most particularly those that she knows and other gundogs, especially black retrievers. She has however been attacked by a GSD and also a lurcher, ironically not because she has run to them, they both laid into her when she was actually by my side and minding her own business, didn't even know they were about. So she's very circumspect about any strange dog that even vaguely resembles a GSD or lurcher, she definitely assesses the shape and acts accordingly.

I have been working on A/B, it's the "this way" game to us, and it's been going well off lead now. This morning her great friend Boots was up ahead in the woods, she saw him and I called out "this way" and she turned right round and shot back to me :hearteyesdog: -- a real "whoo hoo" moment !
Not only that, there was an unfamiliar dog up there today, a spaniel (she loves spaniels), and we did the same again :penguinkiss:

I'm really hoping we've turned a corner with this but it's still early day :fingers:

Many thanks Fiona @snowbunny , for putting this in the toolkit!!

My brag, which is nothing to most here, but..,
Today, we were invited round to our friends’ place for an anniversary bbq. We had organised a new sitter for the dogs; she came round and spent some time getting to know them with us there, then we popped to the building next door for an hour with our friends, so if she needed us, we could be back in five minutes. The dogs were super chilled, so once we had done that and she had gone, we decided to go back out for half an hour. Our dogs are almost never alone, the exception being when we go out together in Spain - maybe once every two to three weeks, for an hour or so, and there with no external noise to upset them and no-one for them to upset if they get loud.
We put two cameras up to monitor them, and they didn’t make a peep, even though there was a lot of bustle in the building with people arriving for Christmas week.

It’s nothing for most people, but for my guys, this was monumental and I’m so proud of them all. We went and had a lovely play on a snowy walk afterwards. So squidgy and lovely, all of them 😍

Ariel was an absolute star Christmas Day (as she is most days)! ❤ We had lots of visitors in and out throughout the afternoon, 8 for dinner last night, etc. She offered a very enthusiastic greeting for everyone, showing them all her new toys, then went to her bed in the living room to observe everything. Very non-intrusive for a 3 year old lab!! very proud of our girl.....
