Doggy brags

Pleased with both of them this afternoon . We walked a bridle path at the side of a river , something caught my eye , two riders on horseback behind us so I called Reubs up and slipped his lead on , Nelly followed him so I stood to one side to allow them past . Nelly gave the tiniest of woofs , a token gesture really and the big lad ignored them so on we walked to where he can swim . Blow me , on the way back , they were there again , the horses, so I called the dogs up once more , this time Nelly decided to remain silent , Reubs watched them trot closely by , he was interested but didnt lunge or make a sound , many treats for them both . Not a major thing in the grand scheme but I was pleased xx

Not sure this is really a brag, but not sure where else it could go.

Reeva is one of those strange dogs who does what most Labs would never do, and that is she takes her time eating her food, often preferring to "keep it for later"!! She likes to go in to her crate when the door is open and bring her food to eat it in the living area if we are sitting down.

I cannot believe it, but Cassie just lies there and watches her :|:| Last night over the course of 2-3 hrs, she never once tried to get any of it at all, or help herself from the bowl.

When Tess stays with us I put both dogs' bowls down at opposite ends of the kitchen. They both eat incredibly fast (as they also do when alone) they finish at the same time then each goes to lick out the other dog's bowl, just incase something has been left behind, which it never has. They then both return to their own bowls incase there's the slightest, teeniest weeniest chance that there may be just a little smear of food that somehow got missed, which there never is. It's sweet, eternally optimistic and hilarious!:dug::dug::heart::cwl:

Yesterday we were having a morning play at the park when Chewie raced off, and I realised he was running towards the poodle that attacked him (always the optimist...). So I frantically blew the whistle and started running. Much to my surprise a black blue turned around and flew towards me. So. Many. Stinky. Fish. Treats.

I feel sorry for that dog. The owner just stands there robotically throwing the ball again and again. And the dog looks quite young and is obviously obsessed. So bad for mental and physical health. Chewie loves the ball but distracts easily, doesn't guard it and sometimes just doesn't want to fetch and that's great. I'm happy with his enthusiasm not drifting into obsession!

I couldn't agree with you more about the robotically throwing the ball again and again. Not healthy at all. Also SO boring to my mind. Well done with Chewie's super recall!

Good boy Chewie :dug:

One of my closest friends stayed over last night as six of us took the day off work and went to a Melbourne Cup function. My friend is a cat person to the core and while she loves all animals she really isn't a dog person. After the initial 5 or 10 minutes of going ballistic when she and another friend arrived yesterday, Maxx calmed down and decided that he was going to win her over. This morning he followed her around without being a pest and just gazed at her adoringly, wagging his tail furiously and bringing her toys. He sat when told and was SUCH a good boy. I heard her say 'Oh Maxx, you are adorable'.

Awwww :inlove:

More about the drugs than the dog. Homer is lying somewhat peacefully (not completely relaxed but not overly bothered) while there are constant fireworks in the distance. Even Hubby is tolerating Swiss Jazz on the radio.

Homer is definitely a lot better (touch wood) at coping with distant fizz and pop noises. I don't think he'll cope with ones right closer by.
