Doggy brags

How proud I was of Reuben this afternoon . We were at the woods belonging to a stately home , when , just as I set off a huge tractor and trailer pulled up with lots of dogs and their handlers for the shoot further along the ride . Reuben turned and looked at them, so I called him to me and asked him to sit , slipped his lead on just in case but he truly didnt need it . We stood to one side to allow the party to pass whereupon one of the men remarked what a brilliant lad I had , I felt so proud of him . Meanwhile , the small one stood her ground and barked at them all , so I left Paul to fetch her and have the embarrassment of having to pick her up and carry her back to the car :mmm:

Homer managed a whole morning mantrailing with constant firing going on near by at Bisley Ranges (National Riffle Association UK). Great trails and spot on finding the missing person. Even though he has managed this before I still get so proud of him and how far he's come with being able to tolerate the bangs when he's busy working, and now even when he's waiting for his turn.

Super proud of Neo tonight - normally he goes in his crate while we eat our evening meal as he sometimes struggles to settle, particularly around food, resulting in a lot of lukewarm dinners. I’ve been working with him on capturing calm and settling on his bed and tonight thought I would see what would happen if I didn’t crate him……

He chose to settle on his bed without any suggestion from me and didn’t get up once, it’s a miracle!
(please excuse my poor meal choice, OH is staying away with work so I was left to my own devices)

Otter had a check up at the vets. OK she was very anxious, that's kinda the norm for her. Saying that she didn't bark at anyone, and actually said hello to a friend of mine who was also there.

Our vet was as usual great with her. He just talked to me and kept the pressure of Otter, not making eye contact or leaning in. He commented her condition was amazing, and she is cruising at 26.2kg, her heaviest yet, which is a good sign.

Otter came home and recovered swiftly, bouncing around but in a more playful manner. She then wolfed down her tea, chewed up a box and is now snoozing gently.

Good girl Otter Pothead! :inlove:

This is fabulous, and probably feels like no small achievement! And one of the best things is that however much she finds the vet visit uncomfortable, she’s able to bounce back quickly when back home in her safe space. This says huge amounts for her resilience, your joint relationship and your hard work on making it a haven for her. Brava all round :inlove:

Looks like he's starting to get there to me, at the very least big steps in the right direction! Just hang on in there.....a step or so forward, then some back,in my experience, but now he's starting to understand the basic rules of engagement, I reckon you're doing the right things and one day when (I hope) you're still here with us, you'll be one of the people saying,'I remember that, we've all been there, just remember he/she is still very young, etc.etc!
Well done, congratulations, stick with us, we're enjoying your company and following your journey.xxx
