Emergency Vet for Reuben

I'm so sorry. It's so easy to leave things around - I've done it and I'm sure most people have, so don't blame yourself. It sounds as if the vets have sorted it all out - keeping my fingers crossed for no ill effects.

Pleas don’t beat yourself up  It is not your fault. I do understand your worry but I echo what others have said, they wouldn’t have sent him home if they were unsure

Oh Kate , as others have said, these things happen, and could do to anyone of us. It's easy to beat yourself up, but don't, please. These things happen in a moment, and it sounds like you and your vets acted swiftly.

These things happen, Kate, so don’t beat yourself up. You acted really promptly, so there’s a good chance that all will be well. The charcoal apparently helps to mop up any residue - Wispa and Tuppence had that too after the mushroom/toadstool episode.
Sending more positive vibes and hugs.

What a shock!

I’m sure he’ll be fine.

When Tatze was tiny she ate a tulip bulb in the garden. The emergency vet said ‘you’ve poisoned your dog’. I’ll never forget the shock of those words. Luckily it was just before my own vets opened and the emergency vet was half an hour’s drive away, so I waited and phoned my own vet. He said ‘wait and see how she is, if she looks at all lethargic or has the runs or vomits bring her in without phoning.’ She was fine - phew.

 for you.

Thanks all , the worrying part is that it can take a few days for the garlic poisoning to affect the red blood cell count , hence the repeat blood tests next week , or before if we are worried . I tend to cope well at the time and then go to bits afterwards, like right now .Poor love is hungry but I cant feed him until 9 this evening . The Vet was so lovely , not a bit judgemental and very kind with Reubs , they made us cups of tea and the on duty nurses were fussing Nelly . Its going to be a long night ! xxxx

Sending you lots of hugs, Kate.

Nothing to beat yourself up about, the important bit is all the care and love you've given him to get him back in form. My bet is that he'll be giving you something to laugh at again by tomorrow.

Just catching up now....so worrisome. I’m sorry for everything you’re going through - luckily you were quick to the vets and they seem to have a good handle on things. Big hugs...
