That is amazing progress. Nice too that you and your neighbour can enjoy a coffee together. Well done to both you and Flicka.
Meg used to be nervous of bigger vehicles - buses, lorries, vans - the pavement we walk on is narrow and the vehicles pass close. She is fine with most things now...except tractors and bicycles. We see at least one tractor most days, she just does not like them. They are too noisy I think, with rattly bits of equipment and trailers.though the second time we went, an enormous tractor which filled the lane came by, then an enormous cement mixer on a lorry was making the cement for the sewer down over the fields, and she shot under the gate into another field.
I have a friend who has an enclosed field, but how to get her there! We still have to master the car! I haven't tried it yet! She had a wonderful time in the Old Rectory garden this morning 'play training', half an hour off lead. We then went five minutes down the lane and she was nervous again, but did go and not want to hang back.Do you have a local dog field you could hire for an hour Sonia ? Just thinking ahead that it would be a safe place to allow her off lead and also some training xx
This is massive Sonia, compared to where you were a few short weeks ago. You’re bringing her on leaps and bounds, although entirely understandable to want to go faster! Keep the faith, you’ll get there soon xhalf an hour off lead. We then went five minutes down the lane and she was nervous again, but did go and not want to hang back.
The last two days she has been a changed dog, will now come out for a walk, to start with the tail was down when her breeder came and got her out for the first time. She now walks with her tail up and wagging. Steve said not to put any pressure on her, so she is free to go to the end of the lead and sniff to her hearts content. She is nervous if she sees anyone, but I just draw her into the side of the lane and she sits until they go by. She is more like a spaniel in behaviour and very speedy as I bravely let her off once, but sadly she is lame so I can't let her chase the tennis ball which she loves. The major problem is I cannot get her in the car, so we are limited to walk up and down the lane. I sometimes walk with my friend for an hour in the afternoon and it would be so good if she came as well. However, it is a vast open area with a wood on three sides and if she bacame spooked she might slip her collar and run off. She is scared of other dogs, we met two Springer Spaniels down the lane so she went to the end of the lead behind me and sat and turned her back on them! So now I have to come back from the hour walk with friend and then walk Flicka down the lane again, to is tiring! Still shy in the house with visitors but getting better. How are things going @Jelinga
Wow, that's incredible. You must be feeling happy for her xxThe last two days she has been a changed dog, will now come out for a walk, to start with the tail was down when her breeder came and got her out for the first time. She now walks with her tail up and wagging.
